Finally listened to some Volfenhags

There's a guy around town that I know through some mutual friends with a pair of 12" volfenhags in a Q Logic box powered by a volfenhag amp. He played it for me tonight. He put in some crap *** bass/rap disk and cranked it. Considering the equipment he had, I was surprised at how loud it got. I would guess dBs in the mid 130s.

SQ left much to be desired. Even with that bass disk it wasn't clean. I was going to have him pop in some real music, but after hearing the bass disk, I didn't bother.

Thats sounds like what I would have expected, but it is good to hear some comfirmation on it by someone who has heard some higher quality subs, other than Pyramid and Boss.

Was the qlogic box the right airspace for those subs?? Maybe the proper airspace would have made them sound better then the prefabbed box.

I'm sure a bigger box would sound better. Judging by the T/S specs I've seen, those subs need a box around the size of a small house in order to have a Q of around .707.

I know first hand about the volfenhag subs, my buddy had 2 12" Volfenhags installed in his monte carlo and another friend of mine had them installed in his altima. They thump, but durability is slim to none and the sound quality just isn't there. If you want subs that'll shake everything around it.. then get them, but if you want subs that actually sound good, look elsewhere.

my friend had them, 2 12" and a Boss Ripper amp, 1600 watts or something. Man it sounded like *** and oh ***, both subs took a **** in about 6 months, now he got a single 10" VT and an MA audio amp pushing 900 RMS....HOLY**** that thumps...i have never heard nething louder. VT makes subs and a box built specificcaly for that sub. THEY ARE SICK. If anyone is around Flemington NJ, go to main street and find Absolute Audio, they sell VTs, the guys are cool as hell, one guy has got dual 10" VTs in his car. Check them out you will not be dissapointed, i also like the fact if you blow ne thing out, they take the part back, nearly no questions asked and give you a new one right there and then. They are cool as hell, and they are not that bad price wise, but that extra is worth the money when you blow something for some stupid reason and they take it back and give you another one.
