Stock Speaker Location

Can anyone recommend a quality speaker out there.... that fits the stock location 'snug', and puts out 'decent' sound?

Already in the midst of assembling a rear hatch box enclosure, as well as applying matching carpet , but for now.... can anyone recommend some speaker's to add on the side panels?

Thanks....

I just installed a set of Alpine 4X6's in my dash. Wow what an improvement.

Sony X-plod 6x9's fit in the stock position perfectly (sail pannel) no bulging of the pannel etc.... even the screw holes line up. all you need to do is change the terminals (sony supply wire with terminals on it, so its just a cut / solder / insulate job (or bullet connecers) between the stock wire (after removing the stock plug) and the Sony wire.

XSF 6932's are the ones i run. a big

I have alpine Type-R 6x9's in the back on mine, they just barely fit in the stock spots(magnets are kinda big), but i got em in there good, and im prolly getting type-s 4x6's for the dash, the alpine 4x6's are great...

Alphine really works

I too have Alpine speakers in my dash and eclipse at the rear. Its makes a big difference. I also have a DVD player in my car and the speakers are really awesome.

I've got MB Quart Discus speakers in all my speaker locations, and a truck box with two 12 inch Infinity Kappa's in the back. Sounds great! Sound is coming from an older Pioneer DEH-1000. Soon to be upgraded to a newer Pioneer HU. One of those Wal-Mart jobs that has the organic LCD and i'll also be getting XM.

Oh yeah, i've got the underside of the dash (Under the speakers, not on the dash pad), behind the sail panels, behind the doors, under the carpet, and behind the rear seats deadened with Dynamat Extreme. That adds some clarity.

I'm getting ready to pull my Alpine 4"x6" speakers out of my dash. They sound good, but you only get highs and mid highs out of them. I am going to install a pair of Boston Accoustic RM6 6-1/2" speakers in the doors or some custom kick panels. I just removed my JBL Grand Touring 6"x9" from the rear (all removed speakers are 13 years old) and installed some Boston Accoustic RM9 6"x9" speakers. The magnets were tight on them as well.

Since the deck no longer had the power to run the speakers to a decent level as the rear Bostons need more power. I was forced (He! He!) to go buy an amp. Since there was a separate output for a subwoofer, it just didn't seem right that I walk out of the store without one of those. I bought an Alpine MRV-F450 5/4/3 channel poewr amp that puts out 50W RMS to each of the front and rear speakers and 200W RMS to the Alpine SWE-1041 Type E subwoofer..... I hope to get started installing this thing in the next couple of weeks..... I need to make a sub box for the rear myself and then again, I need the custom kick panels or cut holes in my doors.......

You don't have to put 6X9s in the sail panels. You can do what I did. Get yourself a component set with a 6 1/2 and tweeter and then make a cutout out of thin plywood that is the same size as the metal mounting bracket that the 6X9s mount on to. Cut holes in the wood for the 6 1/2 and the tweeter and then cover it with sound deadener. The bass you'll get out of these will be unbelievable. You just have to be creative to find a place to put the crossovers. I put them in the locking storage compartment. Trust me, even a half decent component set is 10X better than the best 6X9. BTW- I also have the Alpine 4X6s in the dash. You cannot turn the amp up too high on them or they break up badly. But overall I like them. I don't look to get bass from them because I also have a component set in the kick panels for that.

Just put some Sony tweeters in my blank off by the door handle, where the elec window / lock switch would be (if my car was fitted with them)

Very worthwhile improvement, it sounds fantastic!

Audio so far;

Sony X-plod CDX-L580X head unit
Sony X-plod XSF-6932 6x9's
Sony X-plod XS-H03 tweeters
stock front speakers

aside from some Sony 4x6's for the dash, it prolly wont change now, i like the way it sounds, for me, its just right.

you knwo this post is where your goign to get alot of what people think and like... one person may like Rockford and the other person maylike alpine and then you have the 3rd person comeing in there saying both suck get sony. your best bet is to go to a shop and listen to each set and see what ones YOU like. i myself LOVE memphis car audio but not everyone else dose.
