raido

did the magic smoke come out? but you prob shot the fuse. check that.the colors are as follows.

orange=constant 12v
yellow= swiched ignition 12v
black=ground
power ant=pink
illumination=grey use for new gauges 12v
light green=right front +
dark green=right front -
tan=left front +
grey=left front -
dark blue=right rear+
light blue=right rear -
brown=left rear +
yellow=left rear -

p.s. if this is not tou're year be carefull and use a multi meter and use the outside ring of the cig lighter for ground and test for power. (if you are quazi good at electronics allwais test first)

If there was no fuse where it was labeled radio in the pannel, and the radio still worked, then what happened is someone wired straight power somehow right to the radio. The point of a fuse is to break when there is too much electricity going thru that circuit..so basically if there was no fuse, and the radio smoked, then yes, you fried it

smoke?

if the smoke came out of the raido then it's toast. the illumination will turn the gauges on when lights go on so no swich is needed and the lights will not be on all the time.

smoke came out of the connector not the radio. but the radio i have is the stock delco radio and i know the previous owner had a system in it but the wiring appeared to still be stock. so if i maybe put a fuse in that slot will sumthing happen?? should i use a 5 10 or 20 amp fuse??? i cant afford to get a new radio so i really need to figure this out. thanks again

If the sticker is still on the cover, it'll tell ya what amp fuse..if not, then check in a haynes or chiltons book..regardless of where the smoke came from, im bettin ya still prolly fried it..smoke+electrical components = not good
