ghetto CD/MP3 player?

Well I bought this new "Pyle" mp3/cd player at a sale the other day. After sh*tloads of trouble wiring it up, it finally worked fine. But here's my problem: When I shut off my car or turn off the ignition, the cd player acts as if the battery was just disconnected. This never happened with my previous CD player. All my presets are lost the clock is 12:00 and it doesn't remember anything. Is this something in my wiring? I have all the correct + and -'s hooked up and I hooked up both of my red's and yellow's together. My blue power antenna wire is being used to turn on my amp....Any idea's? Thanks a lot

Car: Camaro of course
I would dubble check your 12 constant, that is what keeps everything in memory, the memory in those things are (with a small exception) volitile memory so w/o 24/7 power they forget everything.

to me is sounds like you did a lil wiring wrong.....check and make sure the 12v constant allways has power and that the acc/ign wire just has power when the car is on....

"and I hooked up both of my red's and yellow's together"....if by this you mean the red and yellow are hooked together with an ignition hot then this is your problem.....depending what coilor is what....the batt/12v one needs a constant hot from the battery to keep presets

what he said above is right,,,,,,
but if you had wired the two together this leads me to belive you blew the fuse on the constent live lead off the car or your deck would be on all the time (like you could turn it on while the car was turned to off)

So like said above wire your (+all the time) yellow(deck wire) to the orange (car wire)
then
wire your (+ when key turned on)red(deack wire) to the yellow (car wire)
get it
then cheack all your fuses cause each wire runs off a diferent fuse

Its a common thing people do is let the constent live wire on the car (orange) come in contact with metal and it blowes out the fuse.
If you didnt know its the the live at all times yellow (deck) and orange (car) wire that keeps your decks memory..like your bass and treble levels and clock settings.

Alright guys well I still can't seem to be getting it to work.

Could someone please briefly list the wire matchups by color and +/- ? I know it's a really dumb question, and sorry for being such a n00bie ......I've hooked up all the speaker wires correctly. The wires that I'm concerned with are the Reds,Yellows, and Orange I guess...

Right now I have both reds and both yellows all connected as one....probably not the best idea. I have 2 oranges on my car wiring harness that aren't being used, but my deck doesnt have orange wires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

Dude please read this carefully or print it out and bring it out to your car.....1st thing you cant just go hooking up the same color wire to the same color wire,,it doesnt work like that! You said your deack doenst have a orange wire well thats good its not suppoed to!!

If you cheaked my previous post there youll find all the colors youll need.
if you cant read it or understand it ill try to make it neeter:

Deck----------Car
(+)red-------yellow
(+)yellow----orange
(-)black-------black

disconnect all your power wires you hooked up they are wrong and youll prob blow your deck if you keep guessing.

Like I said before cheack both sterio fuses,,,did you do that??? I almost bet one is blown.

the "acc" 20A fuse keeps your decks memory
the "radio"10A fuse turns your deck on when you turn your key.

Dude, I just went out and did exactly what you said, and no luck.

Neither my acc or radio fuse is blown. Nor are the deck fuses

Deck----------Car
(+)red-------yellow
(+)yellow----orange
(-)black-------black

I did exactly that....but my car has 2 different oranges. I tried both with the +deck yellow but neither worked. Where does the car red wire go to? That is just chillin there not attached to anything. I'm thinkin this is my problem. Sorry for all this bs but I'm really getting frustrated and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong

get a multimeter..... or atleast a test light.
put your multimeter to a solid ground.
check your multimeter/test light and its ground by putting it to a known good power source.... i usualy turn the key on and touch the back of a fuse under the dash.
if it works, great....if the meter doesnt work, redo your ground.... and do the above step again. now touch ONE of the cars hot wires to the meter.
with the key on is it hot? yes? good... now check it with the key off.
if it goes off with the key off, you found your ign power... if it stays on, its your constant.
hook your stereos red wire to your now found ign power. check the other one to be positive its constant. hook the yellow to the constant power
if one of the powers has no power, check the fuses for the car. theres a 99% chance its the fuse. use the meter to check the fuse, dont just look at it.
thanks everyone for your comments

i jus went outside with a multimeter....and I recorded the following:

Red wire ignition off - nothing
yellow wire with ignition off - nothing
red wire with ignition on - normal reading (12v?)
yellow wire with ignition off - nothing

i also checked the actual fuse slot....it registered only when the ignition was on.....dono if thats normal.

so obviously my constant (yellow) isn't getting any juice.

What do you guys suggest I do?

make sure the wire isnt touching any grounds and wont accidently touch one.

pull out the ACC fuse under the dash and replace it.

then test the wire again.....

btw, im assuming you ment key ON the 2nd time, not OFF

looks like your on the right track and too me it seems like that acc fuse has to be blown,,replace it anyhow...it may be hard to see it blown but its got to be.

Yea I've replaced both the "radio" and "acc" fuse numerous times....but the yellow 12 constant still doesn't get any reading with or without the ignition on....

If I remember correctly...the ACC fuse also controls the dome light and horn. Those both work fine.

What could be causing my yellow 12v constant to not have any juice???? It's not the fuse, and tomorrow I'm going to take apart the dash and visually look for problems. What exactly should I look for or do to find my problem? Thanks

well do you get a reading at the fuse panel for the acc??? With the fuse in both termals should give you a reading...with it out one termal should give you a reading. If thats good you have a problem with your wireing somewere...if you are testing the right orange wire (constant) you should have a reading,,ive never seen this not work and i have no clue how to fix it.

But you can rig up another acc wire of your own,,,,just steal or wire it off one of your foot lights...you run it off the orange wire there. They do work right??? Youll have no problems there!
