cant fit your 4x6 on the driver side....
try this, i got thse polk db460's thinking they would fit, took one look at the depth spec and was cursing cause i knew it wouldn't, sure enough it didn't,
never fear king jerry rig is in the house, i found a cheap cheap solution that works pretty dang good if you ask me,
i wil post one pic there are many others on my web site i think the guys here dont want me to post three gillion pics, a waste
the idea is to use some flat stick on weather stripping to take up the gap and raise the speaker up, all worked out well for me, give it a try for a few dollars, i got this stuff down at napa and it cost like 3 bucks
more pics of the installing of 4x6's

you bent the sh*t out of the basket, which will put uneven stresses on the cone surround and the motor assembly. Short term drawbacks are sound quality. Long term are the complete annihilate the driver.
If you read my "how to" article in the thirdgen.org tech section, you'll get step-by-step instructions for fitting bigger drivers into the driver side dash.

no metal is bent that would be bad
the bent looking stuff is the weather stipping, i just tightened the screws enough to hold the speaker on it and not go down far enought to hit anything

I can see the weatherstripping. Maybe it's distortion from the camera lense, but the basket of that speaker does NOT look straight.

hehe
i took a long time to go check it but i finally did, i saw not bending of the speaker frame, the weather stipping is really somft so even if i tighted it down itll squish it and the metal frame stays true, i made sure not to over tighten the screws to avoid the bending you mentioned, so far it has worked great, and i love them to bits.

i got my infinity 4x6 to fit 3 of stock holes buy turning it slightly. i post a pic of what it looks like, but im not takin my dash off again because id prolly drop 2 more screws down the heater vent
btw, is there anywhere i could access wherever the ducts go so i can get the screws out. i tried a magnet on a string, but no luck

I dropped one of the screws into the vent... It showed up on the floor by my feet a couple days later.
Turn on HTR so the bottom vents open up and take a few hard turns... it's bound to fall out eventually.

thats trippy
i was so hoping i wasnt gonna drop those screws, when backing them out and putting them in i had my finger around them until i knew they were in the treads, thats so cool, oh itll just fall out, hahahahaha, that rules
I know, I was floored when I looked down one day and saw it sitting by the go pedal. I popped that baby into the dash with a sense of zen-like completion.
I've taken that dash pad off and on so many times, it's become pretty easy for me not to drop them anymore. I wouldn't worry about it.
