Ok, i know that the hatch helps redirect the sound of the subs.. but is there a difference in the way the sub perfroms ( or at least sounds to the driver) if the subs are angled forward or facing straight up

I haven't found the orientation to be a major factor. There really isn't enough room to drastically change the direction that the subs face in the back of a thirdgen anyway. I did build one box that had the sub facing straight back and I was happy with it, but the rest of my boxes have always had them facing straight up. Tilting them slightly forward or slightly back won't do much of anything except make it look different.
If you're really serious about sound quality (especially if you compete), then there may be some advantage to having the subs face toward the back of the car, because you'll be less likely to hear some of the resonances and higher harmonic frequencies that radiate from the cone surface of the sub. These higher harmonics aren't necessarily audible, but are recognized by the brain and cause you to be able to localize the source of the sound to the rear of the car instead of up front where it should be focused. But... this only really matters in extreme cases. Unless the back of your car is heavily damped with dynamat (or some equivalent), you're going to get enough resonation from the body panels that it'll far outweigh any harmonics that come from the sub, and you're going to be able to localize it anyway.

i have my back seats folded down with my box on top of that, but then im screwed out of two back seats. I think im gunna try and build a box for the trunkfacing straight up so it will reboud of the hatch. I have two 450 legacy subs with a legacy 600 by 2 amp and custom box

I've got two solobaric 12s sitting in the back of my '92 RS. They are flat, and I get good SPL as well as decent SQ. Granted... it could be better if I had a CD that didn't skip when it gets turned up louder... and a cap so my alternator doesn't crap out on me

My Infiniry Ref. 12's (2 of them) are angled slightly forward any slight ly out. I don't know if this helps any but the integration of the subs with the rest of the system is very good the bass feels like its coming from the front as it should in a good SQ system. The rest of the system consists of custom designed components and a modified alpine 5 channel amp.
