newbie to car audio needs help

OK, so I bought this HU over the weekend:
http://www.autovibes.com/pidecdpl1.html

I have 4x6s and 6x9s in the car right now that sounded awefull(distorted terribly with bass) so I installed some "bass blockers"(47uF capaciters) and now these speakers sound good enough for mids and highs.
The DEHP3500 has a indenpendant Subwoofer out put. What exactly do I need to do to install a small sub to give some bass to this system.

I am not looking for earth shattering bass, just a little punch to it.

Can I hookup a SUB directly to these outputs, or do I "need" to use an AMP in between? If I use an amp, should I use the SUB out or the AMP out?

What exactly does the SUB out on these HUs do for us?

It's somewhat difficult to tell because the Pioneer website doesn't really show the connectors. You probably should get a seperate amp for subs anyway, which you can easily power from the RCA outputs on the back of the headunit. You can find out more about that headunit here.

I would run an amp off of the RCA's to power a small sub or two. A single 10" sub should do what you want and be cheap too.

Use the Sub outputs. Be forewarned that HU has some common display problems. If you have a problem after the warranty is up let me know.

OK...so I finsihed installing everything.

I found these speakers on special and bought them tonight:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/pna...etailComponent
http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/pna...etailComponent

I paid 140$ CDN for both pairs.

I can say that I am pleased and no longer are planning on installing a sub

I noticed that the original 6x9 locations have an enclosure made from some kind of sound material.

Everything sounds pretty good....

You got to love Canadian Tire

I got 457$CDN worth of radio and speakers for only 280$cdn out of pocket...i bought everything at 20-30% off and paid with $140 in Canadian Tire money...For my american friends, Canadian Tire gives back money with every purchase!
