mp3 cd's
I just installed my new pioneer deh-p450 mp deck and it sounds great
Last night I tried to make an mp3 cd. i just copied the songs in my folder directly to the cdrw drive. thats what you do to make an mp3 disk right? well i put it in my cd player and it says it cant read the format. Any ideas why it says that? Thanks.

I have a modulated changer, not a deck. But for MP3s, it will only play them if they're burned at 10x or less. So since my computer burns them at 24x, the changer can't read them. All my home players will, but apparently not all car players will. So be sure to check your player's fine print to see if it mentions any speed restrictions. You might have to re-burn them in audio format.
And like the others have said, the disc most likely needs to be finalized too. But your computer should be set-up to do that by default unless you've changed that.

Oh, and if it said 'format,' it could mean + or - Some players are fussy about that. It might play CD-RW discs, or it might play CD+RW discs, but most play either the plus or the minus, CD+/-RWs, probably yours too. But it's something else to look at.

But after you copy it to your drive, you have to "burn" the cd. So did you actually click on "burn cd" or something similar? If not, then it didn't transfer from your drive to the cd itself, and you're trying to play a still blank cd.

With my Pioneer mp3/wma deck I could throw just about anything with an mp3 SOMEWHERE on the disc and it would play it. Finalized, unfinalized, no sub-dirs, 100 subdirs, high br, vbr, it all worked. My burner program automatically changed filenames that were too long (Nero). I would imagine a plain CDR with just tracks on the root finalized would HAVE to work.

I do everything on my real player. If you have one, click on tools, then on convert media files. You'll get a window that shows the file in its current form, and it'll show you the different formats you can convert it to. It's that simple. A minute later, and it's converted.
But one thing I've found about converting files, the quality isn't as good. So instead of converting, I simply re-copy the songs in the MP3 format from the original disc. They come out sounding just like the original.

Man, what are you even doing with wav files anyway? Music Match Jukebox is pretty loaded with Spyware, so I'd stay away from that. I dunno, Windows Media Player 9 can do it, there's plug ins for WinAmp, any mp3 playing software should be capable. I use Cool Edit when converting wav files I've authored/composed.

Plus, wav files are HUGE! After you convert the files, be sure to delete the wav files from your hard drive. Music files probably already take up most of your used drive space, so getting rid of those large wav files will give you back A LOT of space.
