Alarm Q's

Where did you guys mount your alarms at? I was thinking of mounting it in the hatch. There is a little area on the passenger side under the carpet. Here's a picture.

It's hollow in the corner. Id be mounting it to the brace, which looks like it's just there to make the carpet sit level. I shouldn't have any problems mounting it back here right? Besides probably having to make some wires longer.

Second of all, does anyone have pictures of how they mounted their motion sensors? I want to be able to have me alarm go off if someone puts their hand through the top.

And lastly, is there a part I can purchase to use more auxillary sensors? My alarm has two 4-pin aux inputs.

Thanks guys

You can zip tie the motion sensor to just about anything in the car.

Even if it's to a wire cluster, it's sensitive enough to be triggered by the slightest agitation...

Then again, I'm not sure we're talking about the same motion sensor. There are a few different types.

If you have an IR or something like it, you need to mount it where it is unobstructed.

Lengthen the wires and use wire loom, run all of the wires with stock wiring to make it look factory. Loom the wire under the hood and put the sirene in a very hard to reach place.

I'd recomend to solder ALL connections and contact the manufacturer for installation paperwork or any of your specific needs. There are probably many here who know alarms better than me, but you should be able to get the most accurate info from the company who made it.

I believe they're called microwave sensors.

I'm not gonna have any problems with the wiring, after finishing the wiring for my 4th gen dash I'm pretty confident I know what all the wires behind the dash are.

why dont you put it up under the dash, behind the glove box, or under the console?

i have put them in the factory 4x6 location.

there is no need in all that extra hassle of running it to the back IMO
if you are using a microwave sensor, put it as close to the middle of the car as possible, assuming you want to protect the entire car, i would put it under the console.

Added security I suppose. The first place to look for an alarm is under the dash. Out of sight, out of mind.

i'd put it on the other side of the dash, personally, or under the console.

people expect alarms to be right there by the column 9 times out of 10, if it's not there, they get confused.

just loom up your wires, and hide it in the front of the car.

There is no such thing as too much security.

I wish I had a fragmenting bomb with glass, nails and shrapnel waiting inside for the punks that stole my car...

The tough part would be explaining to the ATF agents what happened.

I like tacks in the seat, deafening piezio alarm(s), anything harmfull.

I'd like to park a nice car in a shady nieborhood sometime, with bear traps and other 'surprizes' inside. I really would find amusement in the suffering of such people.

i'm with you on that, but if they can't find it, they can't find it, doesnt matter if it's under the seat or on the moon, they still can't find it.

i'm with you on the piezo horns/stobe lights though. FOR SURE.
