Probably simple question

So I got a monitor off of eBay so I could use my X-Box in the car (plz dont go into the "that's how people get into car accidents" thing because it's for passengers or when I'm in a parking lot, I wont be able to see the screen easily anyways.)...

what I want is a head unit that'll have am/fm, and a CD player in it. Nothing fancy, just needs to be the same color scheme as the monitor. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...934330410&rd=1)
What I'm concerned about is switching from CD/AM-FM and the X-Box sound...

Now, if this were home audio world I wouldnt have a problem, but I'm lost in the car audio world... is there anything that's like a built-in reciever (where I can choose to switch between which sound unit I want to listen to) that also plays CD's and has AM/FM?

If there's a specific name for them then I'd like to know it! I'm roaming eBay for a decent deal for one... but cant seem to figure out exactly what I need!

I'm guessing I'll need something with a sound input in the back, as well as the output for the speakers... is there a such thing? If so what do I look for

Many thanks for reading through this (no doubt) rambling post

This isn't going to be very helpful, but a good amount of headunits have a line in/aux connection for just that reason. As an example, my alpine has a rca set.

just knowing that a majority of head-units are sort of what I'm looking for makes it easier Thanks heh.

The only downside is these connectors are usually located on the face of the headunit instead of the back. It makes for a more cluttered appearance. I'm not sure if I've ever seen an AUX connector on the back of a headunit. Maybe some Alpines have them.

oh, d'oh! I really cant have wires coming around from the back, that would totally ruin the clean look of it all :-( I'll go to alpine's webpage and see if i can find one... even if i have to pay full price, might as well do it right than regret it later.

says it has aux input... would that work?

I've been researching a little bit more and seems that my other option is an FM modulator... would that be right? Then I could get whatever CD player I wanted, FM modulater, and then set it up to play the X-Box when at some pre-set station that I programmed in that I never use?

There are better options out there then that. Most quality HUs that have a CD changer controller have adaptors that will allow you to use the CD changer controller input as an AUX input, Pioneer for instance. And they will still allow a CD changer to be daisy chained inline. You're just going to have to do some research on what are good HUs (search this form) and what options you're looking for.
There's a LOT out there, just have to sort though it all.

I've seen Sony Xplodes HUs with AUX-IN plugs in the rear.

If you would like to know what I think of these...just search the forums.

NEEDAZ has the right idea, I forgot about those Pioneers with the changer input adapters.
