Omg My Amp Blew Up And Started My Car On Fire

....just kidding with the title....I need a little amp advice. I have 2 12" svc Polk Momos. What would be the best amp for around $200 to power them? They are rated for 400 RMS a piece.

This post title is worse than a Pop Up. grrrrr

get a $50 cheapo amp from best buy, paint it pimp my ride style and tell your friends it a custom one off Chip Foose prototype.

No serious. i did a system with generic custom polished and painted amps and everyone loved it and it pounded.

Amp power specs are nonsense and mostly false or irrelevant

EDIT: Don't fuse you Power wire and your car will burn down

I agree , This tittle sucks ....

I've done alot of stereo installs before , and amps vary as far as quality. If I were you I'd look on ebay for an 8 or 900watt amp
for your application. Now before you go nutts and say "But they're only 400rms a peice", the cheaper amps out there aren't TRUE watts. Rockford Fosgate and other big names are what they say if not more. So a 1000watt cheap amp is usually around 8 or 900watts.

Numbers are just Numbers. Whatever it is; ETs, HP, Watts, whatever. The main thing is does it sound good to YOUR ears?
The quality of the signal from your head unit is far more important.

you can't go wrong with a hifonics on ebay... they are like $240 for a BRAND NEW 1500 watt amp

1500RMS @ 1ohm
1000RMS @ 2ohm

forget what else

even a bass remote ****

its hilarious the car stereo shop around the corner (which really does have some of the best deals in town,) is selling this amp for $1000... wtf is that? yeah right...

and nice work on the title

anyway. Look into quality stuff...

JL
PG
JBL
Alpine
etc....

Another question. Are you using a subwoofer preout? please tell me yes....I cant stand it when people use the rear preout for their subs. Having experienced it I know it makes worlds of differences having a $300 head unit then a $100 one.
