I've been thinking about subs lately, but I hate how much room they take up. And I'm not the person that needs a ton of low bass, I don't want obnoxious, I just want crisp overall sound.
So I was thinking.. Would it work to mount say, an 8" sub in the two rear corners of the trunk? Mount one where that little storage compartment is, and another in the corner where the spare tire is. It would be a small enclosure so would a solo-baric or something work?

Try some RE 8's or some Tangband 8's aswell, both offer great soundquality for a small price tag. If you don't mind waiting elemental designs has some new kv.2 9's coming out, that are on a special pre-order price. Make a box for the bottom of the well for better results imo.

build either a small down-firing box for 10's or 12's, or build a normal small box with speaker grilles to protect speakers--then you can utilize the area still...

be careful not to build the box too small because the box i got is one size fits all 12" ( not really ) and is really big for the car but too small for the speaks and they distort at high volumes.

you could get a buzuka tube with a 8" that will fit on the hump betwen the back seats and most of the are self amped so less wireing. this will give you that sound you are looking for. It can also be mounter other places it is anound 2 feet by 7 in or so

A high quality 10" with 300 watts RMS would be fine for your needs. Put in a DVC with 600 watts RMS and it'll be plenty loud

I wonder how that bazooka tube would sound in the middle of the back seat like that.... could be kinda weird... plus the further away the sub is from your ears, the deeper the sound is

To your original question, yes, it is very feasible to put subs in those locations and has been done many times.

the bazooka tube only gives the deep bass unlike other subs where you can still hear the words even though the amp is set to LPF. this set up gives you that small amout of bass he is looking for if you like to feel and hear lots of bass then you should put a 12' in the back.,
it not the further away the sub is, the deeper the sound is you get that afect from the bounce around when the sound bounces off the glass it reflects the low bass and destorts the high's that why you hear a different bass.
Also for car with a trunk the subs should face the open of the trunk not the back seat by doing this the subs use the hole trunk as a box that is why truck and blazer shoud so good.

yeah actually my amp is set to PASS THROUGH.... I just use my deck, and it's perfect...
in fact, if I use the amp crossover, then the deck gets mad when I do the AutoEQ/AutoTA
