factory cd player pics inside and prior wiring ?

The brown and orange wire off to the back side of my factory deck, so what does the brown one do? I know the orange is constant power . I'm installing a cd player out of a 95 bonnie, so I'm splicing the factory cd harness to an 88 and older adapter. Therefore I won't have to cut my factory harness. On the cd harness there are two brown's. One was for a speaker, but I'm unsure as to the other . Don't want to fry anything. thanks for any help!

ya its prolly something useless. I know the dimmer is back there somewhere which is useless cuz I dont think any radios actually use that feature. Or have yet to see one.

Yeah was thinking it was for the display day/night dim. But now that my performance bass **** on dash is not working , begining to think that either that brown one or the one that says antenae should be connected somewhere..

Looks good! Love the 'Performance Sound' emblem you grabbed too!

How's it sound? Are you running stock speakers?

The emblem is stock for my car. Notice the boost slide switch above it. I have factory subwoofers stock and it rocks

Oh yah, I didn't see the slider. I never knew the Firebirds got that emblem too though, as I found mine in a Bonneville.

(thanks to kanuck from knight registries for this one.)

This is general for GM vehicles from 1971-2000. Might not be perfect, but it worked really well in my 82 T/A.

Well unfortunatly i do not have the performance audio option, but in my '89 i have the wiring for it, all of our cars do. There should have been two harnesses that you had to pull from your stock radio, one big one (the one with the speaker wires) and then there should have been another one with only two wires, one orange and the other black, this wiring harness is for the amp that powers your amp for those subwoofers. Hopefully, the new stereo you put in has provisions for that harness, if not you are going to have to find some way to wire that up with the stereo's power, that stuff im not all too familiar with. If it was me i would look for the provisions on the Olds radio, it might be different but you could find a way to adapt it, like use the harness from the car you got it from and splice it with yours. Or you could just put your stock stuff back in, or you could search for an eq tape player or eq cd player radio for our cars. Hope this helps
