anyone with satellite radio?

Trying to figure out where to put my Sirius reciever, it looks like crap no matter where I put it. Just looking for ideas. Not that it's too big, but it's bright silver in a black interior. I coldn't find a reciever that didn't have a silver case. Maybe I'm being a bit ****, but I think it looks like crap so I'm just looking for ideas. Here's a picture of the tuner, and I assume most know what the interior of a firebird looks like.

Looks good, but I don't have that empty space in my firebird. I'm also pissed that they don't make a reciever with a black case.

Have you thought of hardwiring the power so you don't have to use the cig lighter?

I have that same unit in my Taurus to the right of the rearview mirror. That way it isn't a distraction and at a quick glance I can see it. The only problem that I found with this unit is that it is soo damn bright! On the lowest setting it still makes the car glow.

Im in the same boat. Right now I have my Sirius Mounted in the same location that maroon88iroc had his. I have the power wire hardwired, so its a little cleaner looking, but I still hate having the box. I am going to get a new HU that has sirius built-in. Then all I need to do is mount a little reciver box in my trunk.

Now if only I could do something about the antenna!

I originally had the sirius receiver mounted behind the dash on the passenger side.Just to the right of the head unit(pioneer). There is a space there between the heater core & dash, just enough for the receiver to fit with velcro holding it on.From there i ran the blk/blu cable to the back of the HU.Then power to the batt. That was then though.I switch to the car kit rec, because i wanted the boom box & home kit so i can take the rec with me(I NEED MY HOWARD STERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I have an Alpine 9857 headunit with an ALP-SIR tuner. The tuner is in the radio cavity, under the radio, sitting on the transmission hump. My antenna is mounted under the dashpad using double-sided tape. You couldn't tell I had sat radio until you select the source from the deck.

My Kenwood has the controls built in as well.

You mounted the sirius antenna under the dash?! Hows your reception?

I think the head units with satellite built in use the factory's antenna to pick up the signal. There is a decoder box that is mounted inside the car to decipher the signal.

I ended up mounting my reciever just to the right of the steering column. I've got the digital dash so it fits pretty well in between the bottom of the gauges and the top of the hush panel. I'm still thinking about taking the face off of it and painting it black though. The silver in a black interior pisses me off.

Mine still uses a seperate antenna...

Mine is stuck underneath my dashpad too, and I haven't had any problems yet, and that includes the boondocks between Omaha and Dallas.
