Deluxe Overhead Speaker System

Hey guys have you heard of this, will it work, do you have it in??? I want to save space so I'm not finding any real down sides to it. I have a hard top, and Pioneer everything. If I do get it I will be changing the speakers out though some input on this would be great. Check it out it's on the the JC Whitney website part # ZX380018Y

Where do you plan on putting it and what space do you expect to save? I don't know about you, but I would not want to loose 2 5/8"s of headroom anywhere in my car. Oh, and it says it is 7" deep... I want to know where they put the extra 5 inches... because there is not 5" between the headliner and the roof in a F-body.

The technical downside is that the imaging will be absolutely horrible. The speakers are so close to your head that the near side will totally overpower the far side. If you plan on putting it in back... why? There is already holes for a 6x9, or 6" with a plate, or something like that. You don't want the tweeters/mid in back of you or you'll be wanting to turn around in your car all the time!

Ease up bro. I actually ripped out the headliner (everything even the dome light) like two weeks ago cuz I needed to replace it. I was putting it in the back, cuz I never have more than one other person in my car. So in my use I really didn't see myself bumping my head on it, in addition I'm not that very tall so I can't see myself banging my head on it either. Thanks for the input though.

I was being nice :-) Seriously, I still want to know where you plan on putting it in the car, like where on the roof?

My other point on the imaging being horrible still stands.

Well if it goes in it will be butted up against the plastic trim towards the back window. The headliner will/is black...along with the pannels where the 6x9s are. Of course I'd need to have it in my hands to see what the material is though should it be plastic I don't think it would be too hard to make it blend with the plastic around it, if it has cloth on it the transition maybe a lot smother for the blend. I understand what you're talking about with having this thing 'hanging' down from the top, though I think it could work. Of course someone still needs to get it in there hands to see what they can do with it.

All of the drawbacks of a dash location without any of the benefits, and all of the drawbacks of a kick panel location, without any of the benefits all wrapped up into one cheaply made package.

Sounds like a winner to me!

How would your trunk space be affected by a couple 4" woofers, some tweeters, and a pair of 2.5s?

I'm not sure where you are talking about underneath the roll out cover butted againt the seat faced toward the back or on the floor speakers facing up. I'm not trying to be dumb I just don't see it. I was also thinking about putting speakers in the kick pannels though I'm not sure if it would be worth it. This guy told me I could place some on the doors though I'm not sure if its possiable and I really don't want to try and mess things up. I just want a nice good sound, I don't to be heard from a mile away or anything but I want to enjoy my music windows up and down that's all.
