sorry to burst your bubble but those things are junk, ive got 1 blaupunkt 12 sittin in my room that would drownd out those xplodes. for entry level w/ a little bass they are kinda eh. the price though, not bad. i could get 2 new ones from meijer for like $110. to be honest some mtx subs aint too bad if your lookin for somthin entry level, hell even some pyramid superblues would be great. them superblues can slam. but then again i guess if you have 4 subs in your car it wouldnt be too bad. congrats on the deal. hey i just seen that those are 2 diffrent subs, not a good idea to do that especially if the ohm ratings are diffrent. that could mess up your equipment

Did you notice that HE IS HAPPY WITH THEM! Really in car audio that is all that matters. Another thing is that those subs CAN hit fairly hard, when installed right. Unfortunatly many people who buy sony's things are what I like to call "technologicly retarded", so they have them installed by best buy or circuit city and everyone that sees those gets the impression that they are pieces of ****.

I concur on both of your points.

What really matters is that he's happy. They may not be the greatest but so what? Our third gens aren't the greatest cars either. But most of us are happy with them. (Don't include me in that group, thouh )

Also, when installed right, they can sound good. My first sub was a 12" Sony, and it sounded like garbage. But once I built a good box for it rather than some cheapo crumbleboard enclosure, that had the correct airspace, it sounded pretty nice. Especially considering the price I got it for.

Oh yeah - about running different types of subs, it can work, just be careful. I used to run an Infinity DVC and a Sony SVC with different chamber sizes (Infinity covering the low, the Sony taking care of the high) off of one amp, and it was one of the cleanest, quickest and pleasant sounding setups I have heard yet - and got loud enough to blow the trunk apart if I wanted

anything...i mean naything....installed in these cars, especially 12's are going to sound good. The car is shaped in that way. If not, then your doing something wrong.

Yeah, happiness is definitely most important. I have two 10" car subs, each in 1 ft3, 100W each, as part of my home theater. You wouldn't think it, but they sound F***ing Fantastic.

rv1890, the Sony I was talking about was in a different car =)

I have some 10's on a baffleboard in my Camaro, and while it's easy for them to distort, at low volumes they still do sound pretty good. Can't wait to get my box done to throw in my 12" IDQs
