Your dreams have nearly been answered. Best Buy's '07 Models will be released February 11th. Rest of the local stores should already or be about to release their new models within the next two weeks.

Just received the first '07 Crutchfield catalog the other day and it looks like Alpine might finally be pulling their heads out of their a**es with the new 9885. Biolite, 3 RCA outs and 4 volt preamp for $279.99, I might have to pick one up.

I have used Alpine headunits for years and I've never had the button labels wear off. Maybe it's not the equipment but the user.

Although I've not had a problem with it with past Alpines I've owned I have seen a 7998 with the white labelling worn off on most of the buttons.

Its not the user, some of the units do and some dont.
My 9813 wore off the 1-6 numbers, starting with the #1 cause that was used the most The < > Arrows were fine. With my new 9847 they are already wearing off of the < > Arrow buttons after like 3-5 months...NO problems with the 1-6 #s. On a 7874 i just picked up they are wearing on the bottom 1-6 and on some of the dark plastic buttons like Title.
Thats just my experiance with Alpines, other then the older units with the flip down CD player not working all the time, i love them.
