Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

Yea I prolly get a nice set come summer. Being a full time student and commuting 50+ miles to college with my bird doesn't exactly leave me money. Lol. As is I had to drive an hour for the Sony's. And theyre the best offered. Id almost have to order them online. Second, what would be a good brand Aside from the ones already mentioned?

MTX RoadThunder 12" mine is damn loud and clear
It was $280AUD 2 years ago and that was with a ported MTX sub box designed for the RoadThunder sub.

Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

im sorry but dont buy MTX either.. they get loud yes.. but they arent the clearest subs out there..what are you looking for frantic? pure SPL? or SQ? my suggestion if you want some good sound quality and subs that get pretty loud are soundsplinter rl-p's.. 2 12's would be very nice.. they have awesome SQ.. check out Fi car audio, DD, audioque, Stereo integrity... theyre all nice.. theres more brands out there thats just to name a few... i actually run 1 15 Soundsplinter pl-r and i love it.. was like day and night changing to that from CVR's lol

Take it easy Bandit, not everyone can afford high-end stuff. We all start somewhere, besides his system is clean and if he likes it that's all that matters.

I've a Panasonic H/U and Sirius receiver powered by a Memphis Belle 5 channel 1400 watt amp. I run a single 12" Memphis MOJO which hits really hard. Pics of the system can be found here....

Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

Hmm.. I have two Hifonics 15" Brutus'. About to start building boxes for my 'bird, however from what I've heard , there is NO room whatsoever for two 15's. Not to mention, I'm an audiophile, so this probably isn't the best decision.

I was thinking of sticking with either 1 15", or 2 12's. I have a Kicker zx1500.1, so a stronger amp isn't much of a problem. I just want some speakers that might put this amp to shame

I'm thinking either 2 12" stroker 12's, or possibly a stronger 15" that has like a 1300w RMS. Anyone have any idea which would sound stronger? I know it's like comparing orange and apples, as 15's are more deep and strong, while 12's are more of a strong punch than as deep a low as 15's get. Anyone have any suggestions nonetheless?

i understand that.. but.. wait a little longer and save more money.. i learned that the hard way.. instead of having crappy stuff in the beginning, save your money and ask guys who know car audio.. then youll be happy from the get-go.. i went through 3 pairs of subs and 2 amps before i realized what to really get

I understand where you're coming from. It took me a year after having my Sony Xplodes to realize how much better stuff was out there, now I use Alpine and JL. It's not cheap, but it's all a learning experience. No hard feelings.

yeah but i wish i looked into car audio before i went and bought stuff.. i had visoniks then rockford p1's .. then kicker cvr's which were halfway decent.. and now my rl-p which is nice.. would just have saved me a whole lot of money if i had looked into everything and asked around

Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

Oh man that box was easy and simple. Its literally just a piece of plywood cut to size with a leg for support in the center, with some padding and fabric on it. cheap yet effective. Couldnt give you an exact price though. Not much.

I think the install looks great there Frantic.
Don't listen to all the haters about your stereo. There are always people who think you should have 'their' favorite stuff.

Use what you have for now and if you feel like getting something different then you always have that option.

I will post pics of my stereo when I can get a chance to take them.

Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

What's wrong with kicker? My 3 10 in L7' slam. When I had My $ 12's it blew my back glass. My first sub and amp combo in my iroc was a 15" armageddon and a soundstream ref 800 series that slammed but i wanted more, so thats when i went with the 4 12's and 2 1200@1 @ 1ohm. But then I had a kid and went with 3 10's now I am thinkin 3 8's. At this point i am very un decisive. My highs though are kicker pro seperates, 4x6 diamond seperates, and pioneer 5way 6x9's, powered by 2 kicker zr460's. I like it with just my highs really dont need bass, just want it! But my system is my own and its what i like and sounds the way i like thats all that matters.

I see a lot of amps mounted in this same location.
What is under that amp on the car and is it really ok to put screws into it?

Part of the creativity when installing a car stereo is finding ways to mount items where there is no place or way to
mount them. Some of those options including building false floors behind factory carpet, custom panels and trim,
boxes and frames, conduits for wiring, etc, etc.
The only real limit is your imagination.
Well that, and maybe $$$$$!

Re: Post Pics of your stereo/system

I still rock the PPI amps, And the old school Kicker Comp's. If I blow a amp, I got 2 more 1200's sitting un opened, and another 2 comp's un opened. All from late 97. The comp's still pound hard. They'll be going in the Berli as soon as I figure out the interior and exterior. Each coil has a fan in the box, never been maxed out, run clean power and keep em out the sun. I check them regularly. The comp's still out hit all most anything
