I'm gonna be doing the big 3 upgrade soon and was wondering where to buy wiring and connectors etc. etc. I know some of the big names, and have found lots of kits, but I'm looking for somewhere to buy wire by the foot, and individual connectors etc. etc. Anyone have any favorites??? ...I'm SURE some of you must know some good places.

Thanks,
Chris

I HOPE you find out, because I've been wondering the same thing for quite some time now, I don't want to go buy a kit.

A lot of car audio places don't sell it by the foot unless they're doing the install since they don't really make any money. Two shops told me this.

....I'm sure I'll find something once I really start looking. I haven't checked the online stores yet either.

Re: Where to buy wire and accessories for BIG 3
www.partsexpress.com

Has tons of stuff... wiring, connectors, cheap ones / gold ones, shrink wrap, speaker stuff, etc...

FYI, I saw a welding supply link up top, didn't check it out, but keep in mind, the more / smaller strands (as opposed to thicker / less strands) the better / more efficient the wire is...

Also, I would go with at least 4 gage for your amp power wire, or even 0 if you plan on expanding your stystem later on.

Thanks for the links guys.

....as for not selling wire by the foot goes, I don't like it, but I understand it. I manage a small sign shop, and we don't sell materials, only finished products. It's similar. They're not making money at $1 a foot. They make it on selling the whole kit. It's just business.

Let me know if you can't find a shop in your area that will help you Chris. I've got one down here in Monroe that's only too happy to sell the cable and connections needed and it's quality stuff.

Re: Where to buy wire and accessories for BIG 3
Found a guy here in Raleigh who sold JL Audio wire by the foot. $1.99 for 4awg. Could ya find it cheaper online? Probably. Do I care. No. Got it installed already.

Re: Where to buy wire and accessories for BIG 3
With the amount of cable you need I would think that shipping would probably offset most of the price difference, plus it never hurts to support the local guy who was willing to help you :-)
