I was thinkin...

I have 2 12s powered by a 1000 watt amp. They're pretty well sunk into my well and had an idea to find on of those security well box things and put that over em. Would that seal them pretty well or not really be worth the trouble? I can upload a pic of where my subs are if needed.

If people want them, they will take them. You could toss some thin fabric over the well to help cover them, or use black speaker grills and hide your amp.

They are easy enough to make or have made. I have a similar type of enclosure that is sunk a couple of inches into the well. I have a cover made from expanded metal (looks like a metal grate), and covered it with acoustic carpet. It's strong enough to pile stuff on too

Thats exactly what I was thinking of Al Hasse. The cover you made yourself or the box? anyway they both look fantastic. My question now is can you use your sub while that cover is closed? and if so does it have decent sound?

Re: I was thinkin...

It's just a steel screen covered with acoustic carpet, no issues with sound or air circulation. There is no attaching hardware, it just sits on the well opening supported by two posts near the rear and the slope of the well on the front.

Pic of the underside:

Very nice. I am in the process of building my sub box and I may have to steal that idea Mine is for 2 12s, so I don't think I will be able to sink the top down that much though.

Re: I was thinkin...

Youd be surprised. I have mine sunk really low and i have two twelves. I think im actuall gonna raise it so i can spread my twelves apart a little to fit the amp between em. then cover em. Also, Very Nice Al Hasse. If you dont mind i think im going to do something very similar

Also, my only concern is that bump out, You wouldnt by any chance still have the measurements for it? If not how did you go about getting it so perfect?
Im assuming you measured to it on both sides, measured its width and depth then centered it?

Cardboard template works well. I only bought the material and had it fabricated. Where it doesn't fit so perfect, the space is filled in by the carpet (it's pretty thick carpet) being extended a little past the edge of the metal material, then folded back upon itself. The measurement should be the same as the hinged cover if you have it installed.

I hope you are right, I do like this idea. My amps are where the spare wheel used to be, but I have built this light to go between them,

cool huh?

Re: I was thinkin...

Cheers mate, I bought the light itself of evilbay and added mirrors on both sides to get the effect of the reflections.
