Confused by stock stereo
Hello all,
I have a totally stock 89 Formula. The car is great in every way other than a problem with the stock stereo.
I believe there is a wiring issue which causes the right side speakers to be barely audible. I currently have to turn the balance almost all the way to the right and then turn the volume WAY up to get any kind of sound at all. I tried a new stock head unit and all new speakers with the same results. Is there a particular wire in the harness that could be causing this? I'm guessing a wire somewhere has rubbed against something causing this problem. If any of you folks could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

if u want to do an ez fix run new wires, instead of searchinching for the chaffing or other problem with the factory wires. It could also be a problem with the factory amp if ur car is equipped with one. just try runing a wire from the h/u from the right speaker hook up and see what it does! There may b an ezier way one of the guyz on here may know. But try what I said and see what happens.

Re: Confused by stock stereo
Thanks for the replies so far guys. I'm not sure if running a new wire will fix the problem or not. Let me offer a little clarity; the problem affects both right-side speakers so, outside of testing via running new wires to both front and back, I would assume the problem is more isolated than that. The car is not equipped with the factory amp so that is out.
How are the right and left sides kept separate while still keeping the front and back of each side together? Is that handled in the head unit or in the wiring?
Sorry for the rambling queries but electrical problems are NOT my area.
Thanks again,
Brian

my friend had a problem like that, it was actually one of his speakers were grounding themselves on something, might wanna check and see if there is nothing touching any of the speakers except where they mount.

THATS TRUE HECT.THE SPEAKER COULD BE GROUNDING OUT TO THE METAL. HAVE U TRIED HOOKING THE SPEAKER UP WHILE ITS NOT IN THE HOLE? TRY THAT AND C WHAT HAPPENS! THEN LET US KNOW WHATS UP!
