Re: radio problems: radio doesnt play any stations...
Seems to be a disconnected antenna behind the head unit, or a break in the
antenna line. I would check to make sure both ends are secure.
If you hit scan, the head unit should tune into the strong signals for local
radio transmitters. Does that even happen for you?

Re: radio problems: radio doesnt play any stations...
I had an aftermarket head unit that would play CDs but not any radio stations. I ended up replacing the antenna (Was broke off) and I started to get AM stations, but still no FM stations. I replaced the aftermarket head unit with a new one and now everything works fine, so there must have been something wrong with the head unit and receiving FM signals?
For you, your antenna may be disconnected from the head unit. Or, your head unit might be the problem like it was for me and youll have to replace it. Just my two cents..

Yeah, like I said you might have a bad head unit.
Re: radio problems: radio doesnt play any stations...
it probably is the head unit, i would suggest heading up to your local circuit city/best buy and buy a new head unit, and they have dash install kits there that keep it looking stock and very nice. my radio did that in my 86 when i first got it, then i bought the head unit and an antenna adapter and it works fine now.

If that's the route you want to go then that should be fine if they know what they are doing. For the price though (I dont know how much they will charge you) you can get a stock head unit from your local junkyard or even in the classifieds on here for about $50. Either way, it doesn't matter which you choose lol.

Re: radio problems: radio doesnt play any stations...
I have the same problem. I have a pioneer head unit and it only plays on 1 station. When I first got the car all stations worked with a lot of static. The antenna wire is stretched from the left side in the pod to the right side, cause the headunits antenna socket is on the right side on the back. I have no idea what to do accept replace the whole antenna assembly Any ideas???

Where did you get the unit rebuilt? I bought a UT4 radio for my 85 T/A and I'm having the same problem.

That's where I bought my last one. Most of the one's you see for sale are in tough shape. Look for rebuilds. Does anyone know a good place to get your head unit rebuilt? for a good price?

Check this place...
http://www.carradio.com/
I think the UT4 must be one of the most looked for stereos out there. I just bought one on ebay for my '87 GTA and I'm embarrassed to say how much I had to bid to get it, it was a lot.
