How dose aftermarket head (1-din) fit in the stock space??

 

with an adapter, you can get them anywhere from wal-mart to tweeter. also you will want to get the appropriate wire harness and an antennae adapter

 

If you have a Camaro, I highly advise taking out the metal radi support bracket inside the radio hole. Removing this allows you to mount the aftermarket radio flush, and it looks SO much better than those craptastic kits that just move the radio out an inch or so.

 

I agree with that. Those that stick out really stand out. I don't like the look of those either.
One option I went with was getting a 1 1/2 din unit that didn't need an installation kit and also fits nice and flush. However, these units (at the time I bought mine) may not have all the features some people want (input for ipod, etc). New ones may, plus they're black to match even closer.

 

Well I had a new Pioneer head unit install ed the fit is better then I expected.

 

New? I didn't know they still made cassette players

You can still install a flush mount kit to push the stereo back another inch. You can also get adapters that have text written on them, like mine

 

I like that. And the blue theme is carried through from the writing to the unit's display. I like the look and consistancy.

Old school and did not want to throw away the cassettes and wasn't into disks. So I found a head with cassette player from Pioneer. It works for me.

 

Iroctopless: I like the consistent look too, so I'm trying to decide if I should switch the dash to blue LED's or switch the stereo and letters to the orange color...

Wow that adaptor is so cool I want to get one so I can put a aftermarket radio in my 87 Pontiac Trans AM GTA. How much did you have to pay for that? I noticed that they didn't have the din adaptor for the 87 Pontiac Firebird and TA. I have the digital dash in my car does that make a difference? Although it looks the
same except for the heater controls? I just got the GTA and don't know much about it, other than it is suppose to be a rare car? Your low on gas better fill the tank.

And as far as the gas goes, that's how I had the car stored away for winter. I like to just drive a few miles to a gas station and get a bunch of fresh gas when spring hits

 

Makes sense to store it with that much gas. Do you put a fuel stabalizer such as Stabil in your gas tank?
