Oh No! This can't be good.
Okay so I was installing my new system, i have components in the kicks, alpine type r's in the sails, and a 4 channel kicker powering them. i also have a 2 channel pioneer powering my 2 pioneer subs. none of it is under/over powered. once i finished the install i turned the key to listen, but didnt turn on the car, it sounded great, and i was feelign proud of myself for doing all of it. then an hour later i started the car to go to work and i hear a loud whistling noise coming from my speakers and im omg wtf. so i pop the hood and can now hear it here as well. so i head to the hatch, everything is fine under there, and notice grey/brown smoke coming from my tailpipes. so i think when i had the key on for however long i was messing w/ it (w/out car on) it turned on the fuel pump perhaps, then once i started the car it all dumped right into the engine or whatever causing it to smoke. then im thinking that my alternator isnt powerful enough to power all my stuff. can someone plz help me, im basically a noob at all of this so all help would be much appreciated. THANKS!!

Normally when your hear an altnator whine through the speakers it can be 2 possibilities.
1) you ran your RCA wires along the same side of the car as your power wire (iv made this mistake)
2)a grounding issue, alot of aftermarket decks need a new ground made (the stock ones arn't the best) check that and your amp grounds.
option number one is the most common, check out these things first and you should be allright, however there is the slight chance that your 4 channel is causing the whine, but very unlikly.
As for your mechanical problems i dont knwo about teh black smoke. However it does sound like you are in need of a new altenator to help power up those amps!
Let me know how that goes

well i did run the RCA's for the subs on the same side as the power line b/c i didnt have enough room to hide them all on the other side, but this was never an issue before when the previous owner wired them that way... however i will see if thats the issue. thanks for your help and stay tuned
btw: me and my dad are tuning the car up tomorrow so perhaps that will solve the smoke problem?? what kind of alternator would you guys reccomend?

ok i solved the high pitch screaming noise issue, i had a filter on the RCA that was running along the power line in an attempt to get rid of any of the interference(spelling?) but i static issue. i can hear it coming from the speakers when the HU is on AUX(ipod)

running the rca's along the power line is a NO NO. Always run them on serperate sides and check your grounds because the problem sounds like a bad ground loop mostly common on 80's fords because they used a common ground on the stereo system but GM uses individual grounds so check your gound surface on the amps and ground bot amps to the same spot to prevent looping. A filter is just a bandaid and can only do so much so actually fixing the problem will be better than a filter.
