Will having more then 2 subs make a differance?

I just bought a system for my car that are two 12" Polks and a 1,500 watt amp with ported box.
rockfordfosgate 1500watt amp
Ported box
polk's db212-2 12" subs

My friend wants to sell me his system, which he says is much better. Will it be any better to have 4 subs or should I try to return it?

He has two 12" JL subs
ported box and some 500$ amp (I forget which one) he said he'd sell for 250

It's entirely up to you,but maybe your friend just wants to make some money.Compare the systems and see what you think. Also post what your friends
system is and get some opinions on it.Lastly i dont think that 4 subs are needed
in a car the size of third gens. That's just my opinion, depends what your into.

Thank you. Well will 4 subs make a great differance then 2?
Even if one is not as strong as the other...

Well matched components are always better, and if set up properly,I would imagine that 4 would outperform 2.

4 will go louder than 2, but 2 set up properly will go louder than you can listen to anyway, so 4 will just take up more room and you won't be using the extra power. Stick with 2 in a good box

Glad to help, btw I am running 2 12inch subs in my car, just so you know I'm not making it up, and they go loud enough that you can't sit in the car.

Know this may be common sense, but try and hear it, if you havn't, before you buy it. Check for rips in the surround and such, make sure the amp isn't going into protection mode

Always be cautious when you buy things, even if its from friends.

Re: Will having more then 2 subs make a differance?

Depending on what series JL's he has and what amp he has you could be looking at anywhere from a 50 to a 200 dollar profit just from moving some stuff around. Plus you may try the JL's, or his amp and decide you like the sound better. No sense in putting 4 subs in the car, I have 1 10in JL audio W3 in my Camaro in a ported box and it will hurt your ears. 2 12's sould be enough for anyone.

Re: Will having more then 2 subs make a differance?

Where would you put all 4 subs? and powering all them would be a BEACH too wire up and actually power properly. You are looking at a very expensive system. I got 2 JL W6V2 12" in a sealed box (wishes it was ported) and it pounds.
If you have 4 12"s in your car you better dynamat the sucka or else your gonna be a rattler.
