I'm set on my bass,
and right now I need help with my 4x6's and my 6x9's. I have a 50x2 rms alpine amp. I had a 2x100 rms amp but it was bad, and the company was crap. I sent it for RMA and it came back with the same channel blown. Utter tools.
The 6x9s are infiniti kappas, and the 4x6s are nonames with like 95 sensitivity and rms of 40.
What would be a good, cheap amp to look for, either used, or new for sub $70.
I have it all wired :P and alternator shouldn't be a problem because I'm running a 140amp.

Cheap and good shouldn't go in the same sentence sorry to break it to ya..... In high school i did alot of car audio for me and my friends i had some decent luck with legacy amps. For the price they're not bad but don't expect above what your paying for..... Legacy LA790 can be had for 70 at etronics..... Almost that same amp lasted me 2 years powering my diamond audio 6x9s and my infiniti front speakers (can't remeber the size).. like i said tho i fried it 2 years in

 

Alright start here, FOR example, to get the most out of this, get a 4-channel amp, I wouldn't go used as amps age just like cars do only much quicker, one thats been beaten on for a year or two is gonna perform worse than a out-of-the-box amp.

Its a 4-channel bridgeable 600w amplifier. 150w per channel bridged at 4ohm this is what we're going to go for, however, we're gonna do it at 4ohm and 2ohm, the difference here is your speakers will have more wattage put to them at 2ohm but will distort easier at higher volumes, I wouldn't worry about overheating it unless you put it in a confined space. I run an all-around pioneer setup myself amplified and have never had a problem with GM series amplifiers.

Now you can run all 4 speakers at 60w x4 at 4ohms it says, thats 1 speaker per channel (4 channels). But this is a waste in my opinion because your only feeding 10 more wattage than the average headunit, but your getting cleaner clearer sound. So lets parallel wire the speakers.

To parallel wire, you join the positives of both speakers together, into a Y, and then run the single end to the + on one sides bridge, do the same to the speakers negative to the - on the same sides bridge.

What you did was lowered the speakers natural impedance from 4 to 2, and wired them in a bridge on one side in place of wiring all 4 wires into that side, you now only have 2, and your speakers now pull 150w a piece, instead of 60w. Do the same for your front speakers to the other side.

I would only bridge equal wattage speakers, otherwise you can severely damage them. Ive bridged 1,200 and 1,500 watt amplifiers before running 6x9's because you can always turn them down. Its always better to overpower than under power.

I would say you could do this with a 2-channel amplifier, which most morons would try, but wiring 4 speakers into a 2-channel would create a 1ohm load i believe which would send all the wattage from the amplifier at all times causing it to overheat and fry. Usually only mono blocks are made to run at 1ohm.

The first picture is parallel wiring. But like I said, it can distort at higher volumes a little bit easier at a 2ohm load, but it shouldn't be a problem running 150w through a 6x9 or 4x6, its about the right amount. You don't want to series them, or you'll be down to 30w a piece. GL

i had that same power acoustic amp man it was a great one for the money plus looks great

a headunit rates wattage differently then an amp a headunit is peak per channel so say u have a 50 wat times 4 its a 50 wat head unit and the most any channel could passably get is 50 wats peak which is always split between ur 4 speakers if u have it wired up that way


another idea is just have the head unit run 2 speakers usualy the front 2 find an amp thats bridgble and run 2 channels to ur back speakers and 2 channels to your 1 subwoofer

this works great and is a pretty efficient way to do it on a budget then if you later have more money u can always drop in a 2nd amp and use one for a subwoofer and the other for ur speakers


(that power acoustic amp is capable of doing both) notice the tri mode and is bridgeable

 

Thanks for all of the suggestions, ike sound has some cheap amps for sure, but that power accoustic looks tempting.

And that's odd, my headunit lists RMS, not peak for the built in amp. I don't want to use it anyway.

Right now I have a 300rms (500 at 2 ohms) amp pushing my 2x 12's, and I'm fine with my sub setup.

I have a 2x50rms pushing my infiniti's, and I'd like to put a little more power behind them because my subs are overpowering :P (I know I can turn them down, I just don't want to yet).

I had a nonanme 2 channel amp but one of the channels was blown. I sent it back to RMA and then they shipped me the same amp back with the blown channel.... Utter BS.

So maybe that four channel Power acoustik is the way to go.
It would be pretty decent for my infiniti kappa's, and my off brand 4x6s 40watts rms (they have good specs, so I'm fine with them).

and I don't want to give the impression I'm a complete noob when it comes to electronics and speakers.
I just don't know brands or parts too well. I know specs, just not brands or what are good quality amps :/

 

Go with that 4 channel power aqustic amp that will be the best bang for your buck. That is a great amp that wil put out some quality watts for your interior speakers and give you the good sound that you are looking for!
