is the radio supposed to go on with ACC?
I know that in every other car on earth, the radio comes on when you switch to ACC. in my 1987 Iroc Z Z28, It does not. The jerk that had the car before me changed the radio, and instead of getting one of those converter plugs to convert the factory wiring harness to bare wires, he cut the plug of and used a wiring diagram to wire it straight to the new radios wiring harness.
If this is in fact how it is SUPPOSED to work I guess i will just run my own power line for the radio to my fuse box to where it says ACC to solve the problem.
I just want to know if this is how it it supposed to operate.
Thanks.

You are correct. Radio should not turn on until you turn the key to acc or turn the key back. If it's able to come on at all times, then it is wired wrong.

Right so, it doesn't turn on until the key is turned to ignition, therefore something is not right. Correct?

Either your ACC switch doesn't work or your wiring is wrong on my s10 the ACC doesn't work but it's the switch that's no good.

That was my question. This is my first Thirdgen. I wantd to know if that was how it was supposed to be. I am going to run a new power line for the radio to the ACC port on the fuse box, because I want it to go on with ACC.
Thank you everyone!

The radio should turn on in either ACC or RUN if it does not something is not wired right. Also I was just going through a similar problem in my '92 RS and at least in my 92 it was NOT wired up with the ACC fuse it was wired up in the A.R.C. fuse. And I should mention I found this by looking in my service manual. Also even if he clipped the harness all the wires should be there. I had this problem in my 4th gen and I just went to a junkyard and bought a clipped harness for a dollar and everything was cool from there on out.
