so I just hooked up the new head unit and ran new rear speaker wire, the rear speakers werent hooked up when I got the car and there was no head unit. the audio harness was cut so I hooked it all up wire by wire(it was time consuming) I tried following the rear speaker cables but couldn't trace them back very far so I cut and ran new wire capped the old wires off, all speakers work and audio is fine if the car is on or the key is turned All the way with the car off but the head unit won't turn on if its just turned half way like its supposed to. the constant has power the ground is good but the acc only has power when the key is turned all the way. is this how it's supposed to be? oh btw is a 1992 camaro (v6 if it counts for anything) could this be cause I cut the old rear wires? any suggestions are appreciated

 

very odd thing I just figured out. it turns on when I turn the key backwards, correct me if I'm wrong but the key isn't supposed to turn that way??? it only turns backwards like half an inch, should I be concerned or should I just live with it?

mine does the same thing. this is what i do for just radio no car stuff on

put key to standby mode ( right before turnging on position) and pull the key out a bit and pull the key down. should leave only the radio on, pretty cool if you ask me to save battery hope this helps.

 

well atleast im not the only one. i really dont mind turning the key backwards. i havent actually tried wiggling the key in standby.

 

yea, i think most are like that, haha same as my highlights, they wont turn on then i pull the lever unless i push down the steering wheel and then do it lol, every car has its ways.

 

actually i cant change from high to low beams without pulling the steering wheel down too. also my wipers only work when they spray. and my steering wheel tilts if i push down on it.( not the normal tilt, it tilts down and to the left) like if its missing a screw or something.

 

yea mine tilts too thats what i mean, must be common lol ARE CARS ARE ALIKE!!!! haha thats weird tho. atleast you know who to get help frm lol. what type of head unit u put in the car?

 

Turning the key backwards is the accessory position.

From left to right it's accessory, off, unlock, run, start.

i just got a pioneer from bestbuy it changes colors has the usb and AUX nothing fancy. i just wanted to listen to music cause it didnt have any before. hooked everything up myself. they sure do charge a shitload for nothing.
