Head Unit Headaches

My head unit is not working, I tried changing the fuses, nothing. I know it didn't burn up, it doesn't smell and it just turned off. Tried resetting it. I've even touched it to the battery, pos and neg. Nothing, my stock head unit acts like its dead to when i plug it back in, i can hear white noise in the speakers, but it don't light up and I can not tune it. BUt I am much more interested in whats wrong with the new one I have. Whats something i should check or test?

Had you been using the new unit and it quit working or was installing it and it didn't work when you got it hooked up?

Oh and the fuses... If they're inline you can bypass it.

Been using it, had worked fine and sounds great. Was cleaning car and took dash apart and stuff, anyways i didn't unplug it, but it was working while i was driving then just turned off. Couldn't figure out whats wrong, still can't. *** I don't wanna be out my 200 bucks.

Good I'm gonna bypass and see where that gets me. Wish me luck.

When you hooked it up to the battery or when it was hooked up in the car did you hear the CD loading mechanism move? Will it load a disc?

I'm not sure what it could be but I don't think it's fried considering what all you've said. It sounds like maybe a loose connection somewhere like maybe the harness that plugs into the back of the unit or something like that. Maybe someone else can give some thoughts.

This is just a thought. Was the Antenna hooked up? I had a Kenwood sometime back that the Antenna had to be hooked up before it would do anything. Maybe it was loose and lost it's connection.

speaker wires

check to make sure the speaker wires arent grounded out to the body, mine has done that before. only my display worked, but no sound, good luck, oh yeah my bodys did that, it was a inline fuse on the continuous, run a wire straight from the battery
