Antenna delete/relocation

Has anyone shaved the antenna and relocated it to inside the passengers side A Pillar? Looking for more of a sleek look and removing it from the fender, but i'm concerned about antenna reception. Are there any other alternatives?

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

i did this on an '84 TA i used to own. i installed an autoloc hidden antenna on the glass right next to the passenger side a-pillar. you really couldn't see it unless you were looking for it. didn't notice any difference in reception. i plan on doing the same thing to the new '84 TA i'm building.
this was the product i used:

Most of those radio stations have free streaming if you check out their web site, etc. Broadcast is all moving to digital and internet based...... probably won't be long before radio's have nothing to receive.

that gets me too, people putting stock AM/FM radios back in cars and trucks. Eventually is not even going to work when the FCC re-appropriates those frequencies for digital use .

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

Yep the available freq's are limited and that's exactly what will happen. The Chinese will do a brisk, but short business in short range re-broadcast devices designed to receive digital and transmit analog. Just like what happened to TV.

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

Thats a damn good question. Only one rock station and two alternative rock stations in my area now, The rest is rap crap. Anyway, i don't have any desire to run up the data on my phone for my longer drives. I use Pandora here and there. I work 5 minutes away, so by the time i pull my phone up, set up Pandora, get it connected and playing something i wanna listen too i could have been at work already. Maybe a blue tooth radio is in the future, but i got bigger fish to fry this winter.

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

Run the wire inside the car then lay the antenna flat under the dash pad at the windshield. Few guys here have done this and said reception is very good.

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

I bought a cheapo short rubber antenna and buried it under my dash pad. Works so so but I don't really listen to radio (Slacker, Pandora in Camaro and XM in my other vehicles). Might go with the antenna style posted above to see if it works better but really radio is obsolete to me anymore.

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

I got rid of my antenna off of my fender, went with a hidden one from amazon, says to mount it to the windshield, but I put it under the dash on the passenger side, seems to work pretty well.

That sounds like a great option. I might go with this.

Thanks for the input guys.

Re: Antenna delete/relocation

My car has its antenna relocated to the pass rear fender by my dad when he owned it. The hatch has since snapped it off. I'm probably going to use the windshield mounted one shortly.
