Nice!!! I like the appearance of the new decks. They're still flashier than I care for, but toned down from last year, and the green/orange switchable illumination is back on some models. The **** is schweet! It's just like the **** on their $2500 F1 deck. Their website isn't updated yet, but if you can get to a dealer for a brochure, do it!

What models did you think were too flashy from last year? I have the 855 1.5din model and I love it, I just think it has a few too many LEDS . I love the orange/green. I just wish the thing came with RCA aux inputs for my car computer. Oh well.

I think they're all too flashy, except the 7853 and 54, but they're still odd looking. I've got a 7863 and it's like having a circus in my dash. I especially don't like the green crescant shaped buttons that flank the volume control.

I don't relly like the way the new decks look. I have the model CDA-7863 and I absolutely love it. It has so many different controls (high/low pass filter, frequency adjustments for treble/bass, sub controls, cd changer controls) Just my $.02

There's no doubt that the 7863 is a great deck. That's why I bought it. I just miss the older stuff. I saw a 7940 sitting on the shelf last night and was ready to buy it, but it turned out that it was a customer's. . What a great looking deck, plus most of the features of the 7863.

I agree, last year's decks do look like crap in my opinion, also. Alpine does make really great stuff, and that's why my next head unit, and changer will probably be Alpine, even if I don't quite like the looks. I also like Clarion, but have never owned one. Their stuff looks pretty good, too, but I am pretty loyal to Alpine for about the last 8 or 9 years. I just don't like the "swoosh" or whatever it's called around the volume **** on the Alpines. Oh, and I absolutely require a **** for the volume control!

Ahh, the 7940. Used to have that in my 91 Bird. But I just left it in the car when I traded it in, figuring I'd get a new, better model when i was ready. I had no idea Alpine was going to smack there design engineers with an ugly stick.

Oh well, I'm actually going to the shop today after work to buy the last 7949 he has in stock.

I agree that the Alpines have a bunch of visual stuff that I could go without.(like 8 different displays for the EQ) but I don't spend that much time looking at my stereo, I am more concerned with how it performs. I love the rotary **** on my headunit, it is so convenient.
I am very happy with Alpine and they will continue to get my business so long as they keep putting out a quality product.

All I gotta say is, I've gotten more compliments on my new 7863 than any other head unit I've had. I love it!

I get a ton of compliments on mine too. People are like birds. They are drawn to bright, shiny objects.

Here's an interesting tidbit of info on the subject. Did you know the 7864 is the same deck as the 7863 in every respect with the exception of cosmetics? The 7864 is silver/blue, the 7863 black/green. Retail shops are typically getting $100 more for the 7864 and they're selling out of them before the 7863.

intersting. I just looked at them on alpine's website, personally I like the 7863 better. I don't really like the silver on the 64. just my opinion.

I've sold very few 64s, but a lot of people are in love with the blue. I can't stand the circus effects of either, but at least the green doesn't light up the whole fricking car.
