What omh rating for front & rear speakers

What was the ohm rating for factory speakers front & rear? Usually the radio head will have that imprinted on the bottom side of the radio?
I know that in my '72 Buick, the factory speakers were 10 ohm front & rear but 8 ohm worked also which is what I placed in that car. No mixing 8 and 4 ohm unless the two 4 ohm speakers were connected in series. When did 4 ohm speakers become available at GM?
Comments.

Re: What omh rating for front & rear speakers

Factory Delco wants 10 ohm in front and 4 ohm in back. However; I've found MANY Delco 10 ohm rear speakers in Camaros over the years..........

One DM165 is for the front and rear left speakers, the other DM165 is for the front and rear right speakers. This way each DM165 drives a 10ohm front speaker, which requires very little power, and a 4 ohm rear speaker.

If the radio wants 10 ohm speakers as stated on the radio itself, then 4 ohm will destroy the amp. 4 ohm in series is okay but u lose the stereo affect.

There were also 16 Ohm Speakers floating around...

Most of the current Aftermarket Speakers are going to 4 Ohm.
Subwoofers are another story.
