I want to put two 12" subs in the back of my firebird. I'm going to make a box and want to know the best dimensions. Please show me pictures of your sub boxes and tell me the dimensions?? Thanks

I'm not trying to be an *** , but if you've got the skill to build it, you should have the skill to measure for it.

I have measured it and I have drawn pictures and found out the best way that I would want to do it, but I wanted to see if anybody had something different than what I had.

Building a box is not hard. All you need is a table saw and some particle board. I can't ever seem to get my measurments to come out right to get the correct air space, and still use the T-top bag. I would also like to see what others have come up with.

5/8" Particle board = $10
1 bottle of glue = $4
charcoal carpet = $8

Watching it blow apart after you put a pair of Rockford HX2's in = Priceless.

Those boxes are cheaply made boxes.

I've always built boxes out of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). It is much stronger then particle board and doesn't fall apart.

I agree with building your own sub. It is a little cheaper and you can make it exactly the way you want it. Those $70 prefab boxes are junk! I personally feel that all pre-fab boxes are junk though.

My box holds a single JL 12", so I just built it to drop into the rear hole, right behind the gas tank.

I dunno how you could do it with 2 12's and still keep the T-Top bag???
Maybe you should consider another speaker that requires less enclosure volume?
Or, if the required volume is off by a small amount, you could polyfill the box to compensate for it.

Good luck,

Thomas.

The one in the picture is made out of particle board.

All I did was basically worked my way up. It takes some thinkin but anyone could fig it out. just stop your top plate where the t-top bag hooks are. Dont forget your divider.
