I've heard Eclipse deck are the ****. Much better than Pioneer and Alpine, but cost more too. I haven't heard anything about Alpine in awhile (like since about '92).

Eclipse has had some serious reliability issues recently. They tend to skip a LOT and have had other various failures. Alpine and eclipse both offer a very high quality unit, but it seems that right now Alpine gets the nod for better reliability.

no one has mentioned the panasonic decks..... the bright blue display is really great, ive gotten a lot of compliments on my deck, it never skips a beat and has all the nice little features you can need and is reasonably priced.

Alpine Din 1.5 deck.....
Once I got my Spohn SFC's in.....
it has only skipped once!!!!!
But the bump was so bad I didn't car about the HU, I was worried about the car! They had cut down the road about 1.5-2" and didn't bevel the edge at the end.

I just bought a new Alpine CDA-7875. I can't say much about reliability since I've only had it for a month, but features, sound quality, and construction are all the best I've owned personally (have owned Pioneer, Panasonic, and Sony). I would highly recommend Alpine to anyone.
