i want to make the new speaker terminals plug into the factory speaker clips/sockets.
Does anyone make an adapter......
similar to a stereo harness adapter....only for speakers.

Ok,

#1 Sounds like to me you are using the factory radio and just want to replace the speakers.

OR.....

#2 You replaced the factory radio and are using one of those wire harnesses that utilize the factory speaker wires.

You might try calling or emailing Scosche, they are one of several companies who deal with this stuff.
http://www.scosche.com

Hope that link works...

If you've installed a aftermarket radio and are not using the speaker wires, then just run new speaker wires and forget about the factory wires all together. That's what I did on my camaro.

You don't want to cut or tap into the current wires because you plan on selling the car or it's a lease right?

The only other thing I can think of would be contacting the dealer direct and see if they sell the plugs from the speakers.

One other option would be to go to a junk yard and see if they have any speakers with the same plugs and just remove the plugs from the speakers and then wire to the new speakers. Might sound more complicated than it really is.

Hope it helps, because I'm out of ideas.

Anybody else??

i would rather make or buy the adapters for the speakers becuase it's not my car and she may want to put her factory speakers back later if she gets rid of the car.

Ok, here's another couple of thoughts.

1) The real simple way to do this would be to splice into the current factory wires. This way you could keep the plugs on there and wire the new speakers as well. If she don't like the speakers or sells the car then you just un-hook the wires and install the factory speakers again.

2) I don't know how these plugs look, but, could it be possible to get some spade connectors and slide them into the factory plug?
Radio Shack carries many different size spade connectors and you could run a jumper wire from the factory plug and then to the new speakers.

I hope that made sense.

Glad that made sense.

Frankly, I'd try and go with idea # 2 if you can find the right type of spade connectors to fit the plug.
It would be a much cleaner install and you would not have electrical tape baking in the sun under the dash.

If you can't find spade connectors that will fit, then you could also try small banana plugs or pin connectors that are used for home audio connections.

I think this would be the cheapest way to go, and it would do everything a regular connector would do.

Let me know how it goes.....

I don't think anybody makes those adapters. As long as you leave a pig tail on the stock connector, you can always re-attach it later, but a better way to do it is to just buy wire taps. They're available in Wal Mart. They tighten onto a wire with a pair of pliers, and then accept a male quick-disconnect terminal. They're real easy and real cheap.

Better yet, run new wire.
