Fuses keep blowing...
so i have my 4gauge wire running about 10in. to my 150amp blade fuse, running roughly 12 feet to my distribuition block. from there it runs to a 40amp fuse to my Directed 1100d with 4gauge all the way.
when ever i try to put the fuses in the amp they pop like hampsters in a microwave. the ground is also 4gauge running to my ground block.
my other amp is working fine. its an alpine MRV-F307 V12 amp that im using on my fronts and rears.
im baffled as to what it could be. the 1100d worked fine when all i had was it and i ran the power wire directly to it and the ground wire from it. basically it was the only amp hooked up and there wasnt a fuse block or ground block.
Im wondering if the fuses arent big enough, but the way the amp fuses pop it looks like even if i tried an 80amp it would kill it.

Even if the fuse is too small, it wouldn't blow until the amp was pushed. Sounds like there is a short somewhere. Check the positive wire from the fuse that blows to the amp and make sure its in good shape. But there may be an internal short in the amp.

well 1st it blew the fuse near the battery when it was only a 30 amp, so i changed it to a 150 amp blade type fuse. then it fried the one in the fuse block, which was also a 30, so i replaced it with a 40. then it fried both in the amp and they are both 40s. and i dont think its the amp because i was using it 2hrs before all the trouble, and it was working fine. it did only have the 1 30amp near the battery though. im gonna try my other 1100d to make sure, but i kinda hope it does the same thing because i dont want to have a bad amp.

i dont know too much about this stuff, but i do know that no one in my area will install a system without using a 200 amp fuse, i got a few friends with 6-8 amps all crazy **** n that what they use is a 200 amp fuse and it never blows, also makes you think how can you run 2000 watts of power in amps comming throgh a 2oo amp fuse, but some how it works.
maybe give that a shot, it could be it.

if you're popping 30 amp fuses with the amp off, like mentioned, you've got a short. Either that or the amp is cooked hardcore. Do you have the amp wired properly or are the + and - switched? If it's wired properly, unhook it and pop the fuse in. If the fuse still blows, the amp isn't the problem. If the fuse doesn't blow, your amp did.
