i've heard conflicting ideas. i've heard a cap is a cap, but then i've also heard that the quality can vary. a better idea would be to first upgrade the wiring under your hood. throw out the 8 ga the factory uses and run 4 ga between the battery, alternator, and ground. that should help ya out quite a bit for not too much money

As far as I know, there's only 1 or maybe 2 companies making caps of that size and capacity, so I'd guess the quality doesn't vary a hell of a lot. HOWEVER, I have seen some caps sold as "automotive" grade caps that weren't. You want to make sure the cap is a 20 VDC 95*c capacitor. I've seen some 16 volt caps being sold, and you want to stay away from those.

im going to agree with Jim, all of the 20volt ones look the same, but the mobil authority ones on ebay are rated @ 16volts, so stay away from them!

I'd heard the same thing too; that there were only a few manufacturers of caps that large, and that you're really only paying for the label on the cap. (Kinda like a battery, besides Sears & Interstate, eh?)

I wonder if we can just buy the caps directly from a manufacturer...
