Battery Drain
It's getting warmer, and I'm thinking about my car. Soon I'll be home, and she'll be out of storage. Right now, I'm thinking about how to avoid blowing another battery. I've got my amp wired for 2ohms instead of the recommended 4ohms, and as expected, I've had a few problems. I'll have to replace my battery, and even though I just rebuilt my alternator, I'm thinking of upgrading. I've got a 1 farad cap, but am I doomed to buy a new battery every few months if I keep things wired wrong?

what do you have for wiring in your car? i've had two amps in both of my systems and have never gone through a battery. best bet, if you havent done it yet, is to upgrade the wiring between your battery, ground, and alternator to at least 4 ga. that will give you a big improvement. how is your cap wired?

I have 8 gauge running from battery to cap, and I wired the cap as per instructions that came with-(car's in storage, the exact wiring slips my mind) It's a Rockford cap...the battery, alternator and ground are all original-4 guage, I think.

unless you have something thats on even when the ignition's off, then you shouldnt have that bad of a drain. the alt is usually the problem, so on my old camaro i upgraded to a a 110 amp alt. never had a problem after that.
