secondaries to 90*
I read that I could make my secondaries open wider by filing down the stop, but how do I measure the 90*? My secondaries are at two different angles, the front half is at a different angle than the back half. If I measured from the back then the front half would be past 90*, wouldn't that cause turbulence?
im pretty sure that if you just file the tab down flat (even with the other parts) it will go to 90*. i just took a dremel and cut it flat, and it seems to be fine... i THINK the majority of the air goes in the back due to that metal air dam thats between the primaries and the secondaries.

Well I wnt out to check it, and when I rev the engine the secondaries don't even get closee to the stop before 5,000 rpm, so is it only during driving that the stop comes into play?

So, have you had any adverse effects? I read on an earlier post that this could cause the engine to run too lean and eventually destroy it.
it all depends on your engine and your fuel delivery. you have a 305 with little to no mods correct? i have a bored out 350...by doing this mod, you are allowing the carb to take in as much air as the engine will allow. it cant suck in to much.. but it can suck in to little if adjusted wrong. if you want to make sure you dont run lean, then get a set of DR rods and a B hanger. these 2 items alone will improve your qudrajet dramaticly. yo should also replace your fuel filter and lines as well just to make sure that you got a good clean flow.

you can get the B hanger from summit. its a edelbrock part. if you wnat i can go get the part number. also the DR rods, you have to get from either a GM dealership, gmpartsdirect.com , or the carb shop in cali. again, let me know and i can try to dig up part numbers and phone numbers.
the B hanger is part number EDL-1960 from summitracing.com
i already PMd you the DR rods part number yesterday. and the carb shops website is http://www.customcarbs.com/ i hope this all helps.
your better of getting the DR's from gmpartsdirect.com they are listed at like 7 bucks.. but i dont know how much after shipping. GM and the carb shop want around 17 for them shipped.

look on this link. i highly recomend you order them through GMPARTSDIRECT.COM Metering Rod Chart
edit....
i just looked up how much these rods were on gmpartsdirect.com and they said 7 bucks.....then i went to checkout and the total was 22 bucks!!! wow, that is one huge shipping charge! try going to your local GM dealer and see how much they want, i got mine for 16 bucks from GM, but they had to special order it from detroit.

i would like to know about the secondary metering chart when it says 0deg 20deg ext. what does that mean and i also wanted to know how to grind down the stop on the q-jet where is it located and how do i get to it.
I'm not sure I like the way they're referred to as degrees of air valve opening because that value would be depend on what kind of hanger you use. Each value on that table represents the diameter of the rod at a certain point. More details on that in this thread, scroll down a bit.
The air valve stop is pretty easy to get to as you can see in the illustration. It's on the rear passenger side of the carb.
