DR's a bunch of BS?

ok, anyone that has DR rods, please take a caliper (ya know the tool that you use to see how thick something is).. and measure the tip of it. my car came with CH rods, and i bought DR rods... measured them today and the CH rods were 0.056 and the DR's were 0.057 !!!! its bigger and its supposed to make it richer???? i think i either got fake DR's , or something.... i dont know whats up with that..the only differance in them was the VERY VERY tip... my CH's had a flat tip, and the DR's had a point...this makes no sence at all. wouldnt the flat one be richer then the pointed one? it would be releasing more fuel sooner... can someone clear this all up for me?? ohh by the way i need something richer then DRs, any suggestions?

ok i just took a closer look at them... the tip on the DR's is longer...but bigger diameter wise. the rest of the DR's taper above the tip is smaller diameter wise them the CH's. but wouldnt a shorter, smaller diameter rod be better?

There's a LOT more to it than just the diameter of the power tip If you have any more of those overrated DR's, I've got some real nice CH's here that I'll trade ya!

Here's an illustration to help explain that chart. A-G correspond to 0-degrees-90 degrees on that chart, respectively. The top rod is a CH, the bottom rod is a CK. Notice the longer power tip on the CK (designated L on the chart), and the CH has a short power tip (designated S).

I agree. DRs are very good overall rods for the stock to mildly modified.

When I put them in with the B hanger, I still had a stock LG4 with air cleaner and timing the only mods. The difference in response was amazing. When I did the mods in the sig, I didn't change anything (except idle speeds and choke pull-off adjustment), and they still get the job done. Now that the engine revs higher, the AV just opens up more, giving the extra fuel needed (I doubt they even got to the power tip with the stock LG4).

The DRs also worked great in the Edelbrock 1901 q-jet (from which they came) when I had that carb on the 396. The CKs slowed me down. When the Holley went on the 396, the Camaro got the DRs.

I have the DR's, AX's and the smallest tips which are CC's which I have with my 406 in my 69 Malibu. I picked up 1.5mph going from the AX to the CC. I had to reset the secondary air valve today and it feels like it might be quicker even. I was running consistant 12.75 at 104 and now it is hitting 12.71 at 105.50. I just went ahead and put the AX's in the LG-4 83 T/A and I can't tell a difference just yet.

Don't know how many times I have had the hood open on the Malibu and I hear "Man get rid of the Quadra-junk and get a Holley" I have and it is slower. That car's combo works well with the Q-jet. Here are the specs on it.

This combo made 375 hp @5,000 rpm and 480 toruqe @3500rpm
on an engine dyno. It is probably closer to 390 hp or so since then. Breaking in and tuning a little better.

400 Small block bored .030

My car responds well to CC's also. I would really like to try some DX's, but I can't find anybody that has them, and supposedly they quit making them a long time ago.
