intank FI pump for carb
today my buddy was tellin me that there is an inline regulator that will allow you to use your FI pump....it recieves the incoming psi (what that may be) and it limits it 7 psi or what u need. Its send the excess fuel back to the tank using the existing return lines....
anyone ever used one?

My car was originally a TPI car and I switched it to a carb. I am using the stock intank pump with the mallory 4309 to cut the pressure back to 7 psi with the excess returning to the tank through the normal return line.

2 pumps?
what will a stock pump support power wise?..
i was thinkin, if i have to put a regulator in the lines why not put in another pump..instead of having either one working hard have 2 that are not working at all...
what do u guys think?

It is your choice. I gteched my 406 this spring and it ran a 12.286 at 115.95 so I think the regulator support a fair bit of power.

Yeah, that pump won't be working very hard at all. It's made for higher pressure apps, so the load on it will be quite low compared to what it was with TPI. Just get the three port regulator. Do NOT use a 2-port or your pump will fry. It's very important for in-tank pumps to have a return feed. If your pump ever goes out, then you can go with an external pump, and you'll still have an excellent regulator. I'm running a Holley in-tank pump now with no probs (of course, I haven't really driven it much). James
