Help!!! Ohh So Close!!!
I got everything on my new 350 bolted in my car. Today we were gonna set on the carb and fire her for the first time. I have an Edelbrock Aluminum intake, Not sure which model, Its a square bore intake. I was planning on using the Q-Jet that was on the 350 when I got it, Its a 78' Q-Jet Mechanical choke, etc. Anyway. Now I cant finish my car because the carb wont bolt up to the square bore intake? Is there anything I can use for an adapter, Or should I just go out and buy a Holley?

It would be cheaper to buy a new intake manifold that accepts the q-jet than it would be to go out and buy a new Holley.
You can use an adapter, but it will raise the height of the carb. That may cause air cleaner/hood clearance problems. Cheaper than either option in paragraph 1.

I went out and bought the adapter and got everything on tonight. The question is...Will this clear a stock IROC hood If I get a big enough drop base?

You'll be the first to know, I guess.
Hard to say without knowing what intake manifold you have.

Actually I was planning on getting an aftermarket hood...As you can see in the signature. I also dont really think I need to go buy a new intake. One I have now is a very nice Edelbrock one and it was free! The adapter I got is a normal adapter, I think my problem with height is mainly just the intake has some height to it. My car is gettting all new exhaust done now so I cant test fit the hood, I drove it 20 mins over there with no hood and open headers. If the stock hood wont close I will mold this 2 inch scoop I got laying around here onto the hood from my parts car until I get the cash for a Ram-Air or Big-block hood!
i dont think the big block or ram air hood will you give you the clearance you need. you might want to check around and see if there the same height as the stock hood. i know i had to use a daytona iroc hood to get the clearance i needed.

Not sure about the big block, But I do know the ram air gives about 2 inches worth over the air cleaner area. My friend has this hood on his car so I went and measured it. Anyone know of the big block hood gives the clearance? What about SS hood?
