Q jet issues

I did the stupid thing and disassembled my carb while not understanding how to label the stuff so I could put it back together.

I went to the junkyard and got one from an Oldmosbile 88 same year. The guy said the engine was a 350. I have a 305. Will that be a problem?

the fuel entry / filter are oriented straight forward in an Olds carb. The Chevrolet q-jets have it pointing to the RH side of the car. I would get a Chevy one instead.

They didn't have any from a Chevy. Is that the only problem I will have?

Doubt it. Their ILC & secondary vaccuum break are setup differently IIRC.

They used Chevrolet CCC Q-jets from 1980 through 1988. Look harder.

I kinda see the problem as the fuel entry goes straight over the thermostat (?).

I had to replace the fuel line anyway, so can't I just bend the new one so it mates up?

And how do you keep the fuel from running out of the pump at the bottom?

I looked at all the F-bodies, Caprices, Monte Carlos and trucks they had. 50% of them are TBI. The other 50% have no carb at all as someone got to them.

i ran a qjet with a forward fuel entry and added rubber hose to the fuel line to route it differently. Its a hack job but it worked just fine and absolutely leak free.

Make sure the throttle, kickdown cable and cruise-control (if so equipped) hookups on the carb work with your cables. Often time they won't without some work.

Big and fast can be very nice:lala:
