Best Carb for my engine

I am building a 350 +.030 engine, +275 dome forged Speed Pro pistons, Crane Cam (.500 lift; Adv. duration 302 degrees), pre-Victor series Edlebrock low rise intake man(patent pend. model), all forged internals, TH350 reverse manual valve body, 3200 stall converter, the stock Borg Warner rear end for now, and Accel ignition.

I am looking at a 750 double pumper Holley with a 1" spacer, but i figured i might as well poke my ugly head in here and see what you all think and say. I was also thinking about a Demon carb of roughly the same size. I am hoping for 400+ at the rear wheels but i also am new to engine building, i have rated the intake mani and cam to an RPM range of about 2800 to 6500, and i want a carb that can feed that with out blowing an **** load right now. I am on a semi budget because i want to start mechanic school in a year or less and this is going to be a bracket racing car that will see city streets on nice nights. So any info you fellas and ladies(i know your out there!) can give would be great

With a 3200 stall, you should be fine with mechanical secondary or double pumper if you want, but beware of the lack of gas m,ileage with the double pumper. If you want the most power, I would go with a mechanical secondary Speed Demon 750. That would suit your combination nicely. The Demon is basically an improved Holley, great carbs.

6500 RPMs with TPI???

750 will do you fine. 800 might be a little better. 850 wouldn't kill you.

forgot to change that little detail.....no it isnt TPI but thanks for noticing!!

And PRE there is nothing wrong with the TPI but if i were to go FI i want the Accel Commander 900(or whatever it is called) and the Stealth ram and the whole nine yards with FI, but i have semi budget constraints and i want to fiddle with carbed and later go into FI maybe even an acohol racer

Is the mechanical secondary Speed Demon a double pumper? I always assumed that a mechanical secondary carb was automatically a double pumper.

"Double pumper" goes with "mechanical secondaries" like "fire" goes with "smoke".

Good luck with you build up. Making 400 + HP at the rear wheels with a 350 bored over .030 is going to be a project. I just built a 388 stroker that makes 520 HP at the fly, and I put a lot of money into that. If your under a tight budget (as you stated) making that kind of power will be tuff. However, good luck with it.

As everyone stated, a 750 is just right for that set up. If anythying, going smaller would help you out (700 cfm, 650 cfm). A very common mistake with carbs is putting to big of one on a motor that will benifit from something smaller. Just be sure you match your motor with your carb wisley. I believe you cannot go wrong with a 750, that is a very universial carb for any motor making 350-500 HP.
