I am making the switch and i have a few questions
Today i ordered my carb intake. This weekend i will begin pulling the engine to swap in my billet cranked 327 with forged pistons and lt1 pink rods. Now for my questions, what should i run for a fuel pump, should i run a mechanical off the cam, should i swap in an electric fuel pump and and a fpr. should i run an inline fuel pump. I plan on adding either a serious power adder or a 250 shot of giggle gas, depending on my $$ at the time. Also what size carb should i run. I want something nice like a demon. This car will be a weekend cruser/drag car. Im going to use my vortec heads but i am going to modify them to alow a larger lift cam. Also what msd distributer should i use. the tech article did not give specifics. I want to run a in-cap coil if possible.
Thanks

Either upgrade the in-tank pump and add a reg, or take it out completely. It doesn't really matter what you do otherwise. But, an electric pump is typically a good idea with juice (go to the Power Adder forum for better info about that).
A 650 Demon DP would do nicely. Distributor should be a vacuum/mechanical advance unit. If you want in-cap coil, it doesn't have to be MSD.
Why do you want an in-cap coil?

the reason i want a in cap coil is because i am stripping the entire engine compartment and throwing out everything that i do not need, and want the least amount of cludder. for a fuel pump would it be best to use a in tank or inline pump. im starting to consider getting a fuel cell. so and vacum advance dist. would work

A large coil-in-cap distributor can lead to clutter in that area. A remote coil can be mounted most anywhere (even behind the firewall). But, the coil-in-cap can't be beat for simple.
If you're going with a cell, might as well use an in-line.

Although a vacuum advance distributor would be ideal for street driving you could use the distributor and 6al
you have now. With the Comp XE 284H in a 327 you can run with no advacne curve at all. Set the timing at 32-36 total and idle timing. this cam will want that much timing at idle.
The for the Nos system you'll need an ignition retard system. Many have an automatic cranking retard function built it. You could move the MSD 6al in under the dash to hide it.
I would get an electric fuel pump rated at least 100GPH free flow.
just to feed the motor. And another separate fuel pump
for the nitrous system. Use minimum 3/8" fuel line from the tank to the carb.
If you plan on a 250hp shot you should plan on running 100% 110+octane race gas. A 1-2 gallan fuel cell mounted under the hood is good for this.
Allows dual fuel capability.

thats a good idea about the separate fuel cell for racing gas, that would be sweet to be able to run 110+ racing fuel at the flip of a switch. Im tossing the whole harness so i dont want to run the same distributer. So for all out drag racing i should use a mechanical advance, and for a street/strip i should use a vacuum.

the motor will want alot of initial timing at idle to run nice. So you can run that distributor with your new combination.
Vaccuum advance is nice for street cruising. Increases mileage and combustion efficiency.
Does nothing for WOT drag racing. Just redue the distributor wireing to suite your new electrical system.
A "coil in cap" HEI distributor will work but with your plans for hefty NOS injection the ignition power of the MSD will ensure a strong spark. Nitrous needs a good strong spark. The separate coil system is superior to the HEI coil in cap system and you already own it.

get the MSD STREET probillet ready to run distributor number 8360. I am not sure if it comes with a MSD coil or not, prolly not then get a Blaster 2 coil.
