Hey welcome to the boards, do a member search on GASGZLR he has a vortec 350 that runs high 12's. Other than that I dont know anyone else who has a setup that runs those times.

Think of it this way....
For all the years that 350s have existed, up until recently, practically every one of them that ever went 12s, did it with a carb.
You need around 400 HP more or less with one of these cars at stock weight and with good traction to break into the 12s. Anything that will get you that power level will do it.
A really carefully prepped set of double-hump heads or L98 heads, or Vortec heads, or even the better 305 heads; a cam with around 230° of intake duration; a set of 1¾" headers; and a Performer RPM and a 750 CFM carb will do it. Assuming of course a decent gear like at least a 3.23 and preferably a 3.42 or 3.73, and a converter with a high enough stall to let the engine leave the line at least close to its power band. Aftermarket heads make it easier but may cost a bit more. Or they may not, depending on what you have to pay to work up a set of stock heads. A stock 350 bottom end with flat-top pistons would be adequate although anything you do to strengthen it would be wise insurance.

Heres a quick combo that I always wanted to put (but cant do to lack of funds) together that I believe would run high 12's:
stock L98 bottom end
SDPC2000 modified vortec heads milled to make 9:6:1 compression.
Comp Cams XE274 cam
Performer RPM air gap intake
Holley 750 dbl pumper carb
1 3/4 headers with duals
2400 stall
3.73 gears and posi
a well built suspension.
I remember seeing an El camino in CHP run high 12's with this setup a while back. They said it was somewhere in the 400 hp range and I would think that our cars would hook up better than an Elky so you may even run mid 12's.

Here's a pic...
BTW: I know someone will ask- it is a fiberglass piece I made to isolate the air filter from the hot engine and grab the cool air from my BB hood. AKA home made cowl induction. I hope to get the whole cowl setup from classic industries for a 69 ZL2 cowl camaro.

12.3's now huh, Thats pretty awesome for such a mild setup. And you only have 3.42 gears and a 600 cfm carb right? Thats one sweet car man, keep up the good work.

Thanks, I think I have a pic of my 1.86 60 foot right before the wheels came off the track. Let me see if I can find it...Ah here it is, with my "track only wheels on, notice the self done stripe-delete for the ultimate sleeper look.
Took me the better part of a weekend to get them off, my dad ran my car through a barbed wire fence right before he gave it to me and scratched up the door decals and some of the stripes on the front.
