I drove an 84 Z28 carbed for six years with neary one single complaint. Worked better than all my friends fuelly trucks/cars at the time
I used to have a place in North Bay Ontario where extreme cold is the norm in the winter and often it was my car that would start with nothing more than a pump to set the choke. The tirck is to have the choke set right and working properly. Of course if its an aftermarket carb then make sure the calibration is A1 as well as the choke. Carb tuning is a different world from fuelly no doubt but when properly set up will run every bit as well as FI

Haha I hear that... yeah but those carbs were the crappy wierd two barrel bizzaro rochester 2SE POS that only made it onto a few cars
No fears of carbs nec cause any Rochester four barrel or Holley can be set up to run aces all year round

How long have carbs been around now? Obviously they can run good in all 4 seasons, IF THEY ARE SETUP RIGHT.

Here in Michigan(Det. Metro area) my carb works fine 99% of the time in the winter(so 6 months of the year) and that 1% when it does'nt work too well is only because I need a new air filter element(I change mine two times a year; winter & summer).

Mine runs just fine here in the houston area where the weather changes drastically everday. It goes from cold and rainy to warm and humid back to cold or sometimes just rainy and my carb runs about the same through it all. Like stekman said it just needs to be set up right.

Get up in the North and most people never shut their vehicles off cause you won't get them running again after as little as fifteen minutes. Whats real funny is in every parking lot whether it be for Hotels or Home Depots there are electrical outlets at every parking space so you can plug in your block heater while you leave your vehicle. No joke man this is true. When the militery runs exercises up North they always have someone on fuel watch to keep the machines full so they don't run out and stall otherwise they will not get them restarted. Thats usually only in the way North though where temps of minus 120 or so are common. I would gladly change for Houston weather

My carb never gives me much trouble. Sometimes it's a little hard to start, and sometimes the choke doesnt work right, but that's not the carb's fault, that's mine for putting off a well-needed cleaning and tuning.

My Holley starts on the first crank up here in the Great White North. It was harder when it had a manual choke, so the electric choke was a HUGE upgrade, made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
(BTW - I have NO warm air going to it either... the exhaust crossover in the manifold is blocked, and no heat riser to the aircleaner!)

i'm running Q-Jet with my choke messed up right now and it starts ok after the 2nd try. i do have to let it warm up to stop it from bogging down. Gotta get in choke soon though. my last f body was a fuelly and i like the carb better.
