Carb ID Numbers
So to make a long story short, after a blown T-5, and a bunch of other misc. bad luck that happened, i finally have my car home, first time since i baught it, back in July. so i took off my dual snorkel to take off the valve covers and have a looksie, it looked good. but to my suprise, i found a holley DP sitting on top of my stock intake
i didnt take it off, but i did see on the drivers side the number 12R-10858B. i looked on mortec.com to see if anythying matched up, and couldnt find anything. am i looking at the right numbers or do i have to take it off to look? i can tell there are vac. secondaries, and its a DP, but im not sure what CFM it is. are these the right ID numbers or are there different ones i couldnt find?

The carb should have a idetification Number starting with an R. either on the airhorn, or on the top of the carb. it should be easily seen on the main throttle body.
for my 4160 the number is 80462
There is an "R" in front of it.. thake another look... the number you gave is for the throttle body itself, there are four carbs that use that main body. You could do a search on the holley website. they will tell you where you can find the number. I have the part number listing from theier site.

OK. i did a little looking and i found where the numbers should all be. and i will quote
"
QUESTION How do I find the "list" number on my carburetor?
ANSWER The list number for most performance and factory 2 and 4 barrel carburetors will be found stamped into the upper right hand corner of the airhorn or sometimes called the choke tower. On the 4150 HP models that do not have a choke tower the list number will be stamped into the mainbody behind the throttle linkage. This number is used to identify the carburetor and also used when needing service parts or renew kits."
that should let you know exactly where they can be found

note however that trying to read some of those views is close to impossible lol.. the best thing you can do now that you know the model number of your carb is to get a HOlley carb book that deals with that carb. that way you will know all there is to know about tuning it and everything.
