gas leaking on q jet
i have a 305 LG4 and my carb is leaking by the filter, i think its not sealing properly where the line comes into the carb , i also was wondering if i need an adapter plate because i have an edelbrock performer rpm intake that i just bought

your fuel filter should have a rubber washer on on side, make sure it's there and on right.
I *think* there's also a clear/whiteish o-ring that goes into the carb, where the fuel line connects.. make sure that's there.
is the manifold the 7104, spreadbore style? if so, then no. If it's the square bore style, then I *think* you need an adapter.

Make sure you did not cross-thread the fuel line fittings. If the rubber washer is in correctly, try some teflon tape on the threads.

the threads don't seal the fuel, they just hold the hardline up to the rubber washer.
If you have the 7101 intake, then yes you need a adapter plate for the QJet. I just purchased a 7104 QJet RPM intake to replace the 7101 since I didn't have hood clearance to add the almost 1" adapter plate.

I don't remember if there's a rubber washer inside the fuel inlet on a QJet, but the fuel line is a flare fitting, the threads don't actually make the seal. The only time I ever had a leak where the line foes into the carb was because the flare was damaged.
Now, where the fuel inlet / filter housing attaches to the carb, I've had leaks several times. That supposed to have a clear or white gasket between it and the float bowl. A missing or damaged gasket often causes a steady drip there.

ah yes! hawk is right I believe, that's where that white/clear washer goes...
one side of the fuel filter has a black rubber pad, it goes on a certain way to prevent leaks as well.... I think the fuel filter has an arrow showing the direction of fuel flow, so you know how it's supposed to go there...
