Dose he mean the seals are sticking the carb togeather or to the intake? Try get some NULON carb cleaner then keep spraying the gasket that you want to remove, It will eat at the gasket and will make it easer to pry off.
But yeah what five7kid sais below make sure that the choke is opening.
EDIT: sry NULON is a Aussie brand (I think).
Just found this for you tho: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...12742&D=312742

Is this a U.S. car, or Canadian?
Assuming it's U.S., are you getting any SES light?
Is your choke operating properly?
Exactly what seals is your friend talking about?

Re: problems leaning out
i am not getting any lights, and my buddy refered to the seal as a welsh plug, he said it was put there pretty much so people couldnt adjust the carb

The welch plugs are removable, but they're probably not your problem.

The plugs he's talking about are covering the idle mixture screws. To remove them, you need to make a couple of cuts in the base below each one with a hacksaw blade, and then use a punch or chisel to break away some material and remove the plugs.
Your problem doesn't sound like anything that messing with the idle mixture screws will solve, though. The plugs are there to prevent people from doing what your friend is suggesting, which is blindly fiddling with any obviously adjustable parts in an attempt to "fix" a problem. About the only time you should need to remove the plugs is when you're taking the carb apart for a rebuild, or when you've made drastic enough changes to the engine that the base settings need to be changed to bring things back within the range of computer control.
Is your choke working correctly? Is the mixture control solenoid operating? Are the well plugs in the base of the carb leaking?

Re: problems leaning out
from what i can see all is working correctly, and there arent any leaks around the carb. you think i will get less smoke if i change the spark plugs? the guy i got it from said they had just been changed, but the better spark may help?
